BASEBALL (TRACY SMITH/3RD SEASON/HIRED JUNE 24, 2014)
Finished 23-32 (8-22 Pac-12) behind a young team that saw no less than 10 different players seeing their first significant Division I action against a schedule that was ranked in the Top-20 nationally as far as toughness...Four player were named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team...Sophomore Gage Canning picked up first-team honors, the second year in a row the outfielder net All-Conference honors, as he was an honorable mention recipient in 2016...He became the 35th Sun Devil since 2010 to earn First Team All-Conference honors...Rounding out the selections were freshmen Hunter Bishop and Lyle Lin, and senior Zach Cerbo, all of whom were first-time honorees...Bishop and Lin's honors mark the first time since 2010 two or more freshman earned an All-Conference nod, when Brady Rodgers and Deven Marrero accomplished the feat.Canning didn't miss a beat in 2017, as he was one of three players to start all 55 games for the Devils. The California-native led the team in virtually every hitting category, including batting average (.332), runs (37), doubles (12), triples (8), home runs (6) and slugging percentage (.538)...He was the only player in the Pac-12 to finish with a double-digit number doubles while also posting at least six home runs and six triples...On top of dominating the leader boards at ASU, Canning's eight triples were the most by a player in the conference and second-most in the NCAA, behind only Brent Sakurai of New Mexico State who knocked nine. Canning also recorded 120 total bases on the season, good for third in the conference. The outfielder really hit his stride in the middle of the season, as he went on a 12-game tear in which he hit at a .538 clip, including five three-hit nights and a four hit performance..Bishop finished his 2017 campaign with an impressive .301 batting average, five doubles, four triples and five home runs. He ranked second on the team – behind only Canning – in batting average, runs scored (27), triples, home runs and slugging percentage (.484). Bishop started 31 games in the outfield season to become just the sixth ASU freshman in the past 15 years to start over 50 percent of the season in the outfield, most recently done by Canning last season. His 10 multi-RBI games were also a team-best....Lin burst onto the collegiate scene on a high note, batting over .300 midway through the season. The infielder bounced between catching and playing first base, but joined Canning as one of only three players to start all 55 games for the Devils. Lin finished his freshman campaign batting .290 with nine doubles, one triple and two home runs. Lin's nine multi-RBI games were good for second on the team and he had a team-best 24-game reached base streak at one point in the season - the third-longest for a Sun Devil freshman since the 2000 season. His 12-game hitting streak at one point in the season was tied for Canning for the longest of the year while his 17 multi-hit games were second on the team

Finished 6-11-1 and 1-9-1 (12th place) in the Pac-12 under head coach Kevin Boyd...In 2016 the team was beset by injuries to its top two offensive players: Juniors Jazmarie Mader and Aly Moon…Mader scored all of her team-leading eight goals in the first 13 games, but missed seven games due to injury, including ASU's last six games of the season. Moon, who entered the season as the team's active career leader in goals and points, missed eight of the final 10 games of the season due to injury…Despite the injuries, the team still managed to tie eventual Elite Eight participant Utah and dropped one-goal decisions to eventual NCAA Tournament participants Colorado (1-0) and Stanford (2-1)…Team had record of 1-2-2 in its five overtime games…Freshman defender Devyn Kelsey was the only Sun Devil to play and start in all 19 games… After defeating Washington in Seattle twice (2003, 2005) in its first 10 attempts, the Sun Devils captured their second road win in as many seasons over the Huskies…ASU's 13 players on the Pac-12's All-Academic Teams represented the 10th consecutive season in which the program had 10 or more players recognized…Since 2007 the Sun Devil soccer program leads the conference in the number of first-team Pac-12 All-Academic awards (26) and the combined number of first- and second-team awards (42)...VP for Athletics Ray Anderson hired Graham Winkworth as head coach on Nov. 29, 2016.

SOFTBALL (TRISHA FORD/ 1ST SEASON / HIRED JULY 2016)
In her first year at the helm of Sun Devil softball, head coach Trisha Ford guided ASU to a 31-22 record, that included a 9-15 mark in Pac-12 play ... The 31 wins on the year marked the team's 22nd- straight 30 win season, and 23rd- straight winning season for ASU ... The season, and the Ford era, got off to a perfect start as junior right hander Dale Ryndak blanked UTEP in ASU's seventh perfect game in program history to begin the season ... The perfect game was aided in large part by a grand slam off the bat of junior outfielder Nichole Chilson, the first of four grand slams from the Sun Devil offense in 2017 ... Following the season opening win, ASU would go on to win their next eight contests to start the year with an impressive 9-0 record following their first two weekends of play ... The 9-0 start to the season marked the longest win-streak for the Sun Devils on the season, and was the longest combined win streak for ASU in the past three seasons ... The nine-win start to the year also marked the best start to the season for ASU since the 2014 season when the team started the year with 18 wins ... After being picked to finish eighth in the Pac-12, the Sun Devils battled through the challenging conference slate to earn their 13th- consecutive postseason postseason berth, earning a spot as the No. 2 seed in the 2017 Oxford Regional ... As a staff, the ASU pitching rotation dropped their ERA to a combined 2.32, a full point lower than their 3.66 mark from the 2016 season ... The Sun Devil offense did a great job backing up their pitchers throughout the season, clubbing an impressive 62 home runs on the season, ASU's 12th straight season with at least 60 long balls ... The Sun Devils began the season unranked (receiving votes in both polls), but cracked the top-25 in the second week of competition ... Once in the rankings, the Sun Devils never dropped out, and ended the season ranked No. 23 by the NFCA.

MEN'S & WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD (GREG KRAFT/21st SEASON/HIRED JULY 28, 1996)
The Sun Devils' season ended on a high note, with the women placing 10th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships behind redshirt junior Maggie Ewen's 21-point performance -- which was the most earned by any individual student-athlete at the championship meet. The women's 10th-place finish became their best since 2013, and the second-highest point total (21) at the meet since the third-place, 41-point finish in 2009. Ewen captured three First-Team All-American honors after winning the hammer throw, placing second in the discus throw and sixth in the shot put. It was Ewen's first-ever national title, during which she broke the 10-year-old NCAA record with a mark of 73.32m (240-7). Along with Ewen, seniors Kyle Long, Keyasia Tibbs and Garrett Starkey also earned All-American honors in their respective events. All of this comes three weeks after Ewen won all three Pac-12 titles in the hammer, shot and discus, becoming just the second-ever Pac-10/12 female thrower to win three events in the same championship meet (first since 1997). Redshirt sophomore Matt Eckles was the only other Devil to win a conference title this season, capturing his first in the men's pole vault.
