KONA, Hawai'i – The Sun Devils battled to the very end and ultimately reigned victorious, ending the fall season on a high note by winning the Pac-12 Preview, defeating some of the nation's best teams.

"We are thrilled with this win," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We think the Pac-12 Preview is a terrific win in our schedule because the conference is so strong. It really is like another conference championship. We did a great job staying in the present and managing ourselves on the golf course."

The title would come down to the final few holes, as No. 16 ASU and cross-state rival Arizona continuously traded places for the top spot.

"We were neck-in-neck with U of A and we really held ourselves together and took it one shot at a time."

Linnea Strom and Olivia Mehaffey each birdied three holes apiece on the back nine while Arizona's Sandra Nordaas bogeyed two holds in the final round of play.

Individually, Sophia Zeeb, Strom, and Monica Vaughn all finished within the top-10, tied for ninth, while Mehaffey followed just behind in a tie for 13th.

Zeeb's three-under-par 70 in round three tied her career lowest, last in rounds two and three of the team's season opener in Albuquerque.

"I'm really proud of the effort this team put forward this week. It's a fantastic way to end the fall and we'll be ready to get back to it in the spring."

The Sun Devils will take a short break before continuing preparation for their spring season, starting with the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. (Feb. 12-14.)
