TUCSON, Ariz. – Sun Devil Cross Country is officially underway after competing in the Dave Murray Invitational on Friday morning at Silverlake Park in Tucson.
Senior Kelli Gaffney made her Sun Devil debut in the women’s 4K, crossing the finish line in 13:47.3 to take home first place individually. Gaffney became the second Sun Devil to earn a win in her Arizona State cross country debut since 2016, joining Judy Chepkoech, who won the women’s 2.5-mile race at the George Kyte Classic on Aug. 31, 2024.
The ASU women’s squad turned in an all-around strong showing with three top-five finishes, including a third-place effort by fifth-year runner Mia Chavez.

The men’s side was highlighted by sophomore Tyler Daillak, who finished the men’s 6k run in 18:19.2 to take 11th place. Right behind Daillak was the senior duo of Chris Caudillo (18:19.4) and Lemerian Lemashon (18:25.7), who earned 12th and 13th place respectively.
