TUCSON – Sun Devil Track and Field is set for its final outdoor regular season meet as the team will head to Tucson to compete in the Desert Heat, hosted by the University of Arizona at Roy Drachman Stadium on Saturday, May 2.

Sophomore sprinter Amir Thompson is projected to make his outdoor season debut in the men’s 200m after rewriting the record books during indoor season.
Thompson set a new 200m program record with a time of 20.40 to crown himself a Big 12 Champion on Feb. 28 and took home first-team All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 14.
The Sun Devil women’s field squad of graduate students Ines Lopez (throws) and Claudina Diaz (jumps) will look to continue building on their impressive outdoor seasons prior to postseason competition.
Lopez is fresh off a win in the women’s discus throw at the Penn Relays on April 25, where she took first with a mark of 54.44 (178-7), her second discus throw win of the outdoor season.
As for Diaz, the Missouri transfer set the sixth-best high jump in program history with a clearance of 1.81 meters ( 5' 11¼") to win the event at the MT. Sac Relays on April 17, followed by a third-place outing at the Penn Relays on April 25.
