FEDERAL WAY, WASH – Sun Devil men's swim and dive sit in fifth place after the second day of competition at NCAA Championships and capped off Thursday with a Big 12 record in the 200 free relay placing second after touching the wall in 1:13.05 in Federal Way.
The Sun Devil 200 free relay team secured a runner-up finish setting a Big 12 record and a school record in 1:13.05. Tommy Palmer swam a 50 free 18.17 split and Jonny Kulow closed out the relay with an 18.17 50 free anchor leg to secure 34 points in the relay.
In the 50 free Ilya Kharun set a school record in 18.31 while Jonny Kulow placed seventh in 18.74 both earning first-team All-American honors. Senior Daniel Matheson was 15th in the 500 free with a season-best 4:12.75 earning second-team All-American honors.
Tomorrow will feature the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 Free, 100 breast and the 100 back startng with prelims at 10 a.m.

ELITE 90 AWARD:
Patrick Sammon was named the recipient of the Elite 90 award presented annually by the NCAA to the student-athlete at each sport's championship site with the highest cumulative GPA. It's the second straight year a Sun Devil has taken home the honor after Tiago Behar won the award in 2024. Lindsay Looney won the honor last season representing Women's Swim and Dive.
