TEMPE – No. 4/17 Sun Devil Swim and Dive begin postseason competition at the Big 12 Swim and Dive Championships beginning Tuesday and concluding on Saturday featuring both men's and women's teams in Federal Way, Washington at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
Fans can tune in on ESPN+ with both preliminary and finals being streamed all five days and follow along with live results.
Big 12 Championship Central | Schedule of Events
Competition commences on Tuesday time trials starting at 11 a.m. MST, then finals beginning at 6 p.m. MST with the men and women team diving finals and the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay.
Wednesday begins preliminary swims at 11 a.m. MST to determine the 7 p.m finals with the same schedule until the final day of competition on Saturday.
Last year, All-American Lindsay Looney defended her crown in the 500 free in last year's Pac-12 Championships and the men won 15 races at Pac-12 Championships which led the team to their second straight conference championships. The men defended their conference championship last season, earning back-to-back Pac-12 titles and are vying for their third straight conference championship.

Sun Devil Swim and Dive ended the regular season on a high note by defeating in-state rival Arizona on Feb. 8. The men came out on top 227-73 and the women winning the dual 190-110. The celebrated 20 seniors for the meet. Full results for the dual meet can be viewed here.
BIG AWARD WINNERS:
Sun Devil Swim and Dive have won 33 Big 12 weekly awards since the season began from 14 different athletes, including sweeping the swimming awards six times since the season began on Oct. 4.
After the team's sweep over in-state rival against Arizona, Jonny Kulow earned his first career honor after winning both the 50 free (18.90) and the 100 free (41.66). The junior anchored the 200 medley and free relays to two wins for the Sun Devils. Caroline Bentz won her ninth weekly honor which is the most on the team.
Freshman Lucien Vergnes earned his third weekly honor this season clocking in a 52.63 in the 100 breaststroke and a 1:54.31 in the 200 breast. He swam a 21.11 50 back leg in the 200 medley relay that was first. Freshman Julia Ullmann won the 100 fly in a swift 51.91, by almost two seconds. She was part of the winning 200 medley relay swimming a 22.89 50 fly leg, and swam a 22.00 50 free in the 200 free relay which placed second.

IN THE RANKINGS
The Sun Devils remain ranked in both the men and women's CSCAA February polls. The men checked in at No. 4 in the country, down a spot from their No. 3 ranking in December and the women moved down a spot to No. 17. Both are the only teams to represent the Big 12 heading into the conference championships.
Sun Devils at Short Course World Championships:
Four Sun Devils performed at the World Aquatics Short Course World Championships taking place in Budapest, Hungary on Dec. 10-15. Ilya Kharun represented Canada, Daniel Matheson represented the United States, Deniz Ertan represented Turkey and freshman Tolu Young for Fiji.
Kharun won three medals total, highlighted by becoming a world champion in the 200m butterfly and setting a Canadian Record of 1:48.24. He also won silver in the 50 fly (20.80) and secured a bronze medal in the 4x100 mixed medley relay swimming a 48.27 100m fly.
Young broke two national records for Fiji, swimming a 21.70 50m free and a 23.11 50 fly. Matheson appeared in seven events in Budapest and Ertan had two top-25 finishes in the 500 free and the 800 free.
RETURNING OLYMPIANS:
The Sun Devils return five total Olympians who have competed in the Olympics. Deniz Ertan and Miriam Sheehan both competed in Tokyo in 2021. Tiago Behar, freshman Tolu Young and Ilya Kharun all swam for their respective countries in 2024 in Paris.
Kharun, representing Canada, garnered two bronze medals in Paris, coming in the 200m and the 100m fly after coming off a freshman year where he claimed the 200y fly individual title at NCAA Championships. Similar to his teammate Matheson, he'll also be competing in Budapest at the short-course world championships. Kharun currently holds the school record in the 100 fly (43.95) and 200 fly (1:37.93).

- The Men's team has broken two school records this season, both by Ilya Kharun which he holds the 50 free school record in 18.51 and the 100 fly school record in 43.85.
- Ilya Kharun is aiming to sweep the 100 fly and the 200 fly for the second consecutive time after winning both at Pac-12 Championships last year.
- Caroline Bentz has placed in the top-10 the last four conference championships in the 200 back, including a top-3 finish in the event last year at ACC championships when competing for Virginia Tech.
- The quartet of Ullmann, Iza Adame, Miriam Sheehan and Bentz hold the top-5 times in the 200 medley relay, breaking the record six different times this season.

What's at Stake?
- The men's team is attempting to win their third straight conference title after winning back-to-back Pac-12 championships before joining the Big 12. It would be the team's first Big 12 title and Arizona State's third conference title this 2024-25 season, joining Volleyball and Football.
- With a win the women's team would win their first conference title in program history in their first season competing in the Big 12.
- It would give head coach Herbie Behm's first conference title at the helm of the program.
