TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State University track and field team renews its annual intrastate rivalry with Arizona and Northern Arizona this weekend as the three teams battle for state bragging rites inside the Roy P. Drachman Stadium in Tucson this Saturday starting at 4 p.m. The Sun Devils will compete against the Wildcats and Lumberjacks in scored meets.

MEET INFORMATION
The Double Dual has several start times this weekend with the throwing events getting underway at 4 p.m. with the men's hammer while the men's discus starts at 5 p.m. The jumping events open with the women's pole vault at 6 p.m., as do the running events with the women's 3,000m steeplechase.

DUAL RECAP
Arizona State's men and women have enjoyed success in the annual dual in recent years including a sweep of both the indoor and outdoor meets last year and the indoor meet this season. At the 2005 outdoor meet in Tempe, the Sun Devil men defeated the Wildcats, 108-91, and the Lumberjacks, 132-40, while the women took a 116-81 victory over Arizona and a 131-55 decision to Northern Arizona.

IN THE SERIES
Dating back to the 1986 outdoor season, the Double Dual has been held 19 times. Arizona State trails Arizona 12-7 in the men's series and 10-9 in the women's meetings as both have closed the gap following recent winning streaks. The Sun Devil men have won five in a row while the women have defeated the Wildcats, five years in a row as well. Against Northern Arizona, ASU leads the men's series, 14-4-1, while the women hold a 16-3 advantage. The Sun Devil men have been victorious in the past eight meetings while the women have nine in a row.

ALSO ON THE SLATE
The Double Dual is not the only competition the Sun Devils will be represented in this weekend as four distance runners will head to Palo Alto, Calif., on Sunday for the Cardinal Classic hosted by Stanford. Women's runners Amy Hastings and Victoria Jackson and men's runners Aaron Aguayo and Casey Burchill will all compete in the 5,000m run.

HIGHLY RANKED
In the latest national rankings released April 25, the Sun Devil women remained in the Top 10 as Trackwire has them ranked seventh and the coaches' poll has them sixth.

NEARING THE END
The Sun Devils are just two weeks away from the start of the championship season as the heptathlon and decathlon events for the Pac-10 Championships is set for May 6-7 in Eugene, Ore. The remaining events of the conference meet will be contested the following weekend (May 13-14) with the NCAA West Region meet following two weeks after that in Provo, Utah. The NCAA Championships follow the regional meet, set for June 7-9 in Sacramento, Calif.

RECORD BREAKER
