Cassulo set the National Dual Meet record in the hammer throw this past weekend in the annual Double Dual against Arizona and Northern Arizona.
Arizona State: One of the most accomplished athletes in Sun Devil history... has won five NCAA titles and earned six All-America honors in three years after winning both the 2007 NCAA Indoor Pentathlon and 2007 NCAA Outdoor Heptathlon... her indoor success earned her a placement on the NCAA Division I Silver Anniversary Team (pentathlon)... also has earned national recognition as the 2006 USTFCCCA Women's Co-National Field Athlete of the Year as well as it's West District Field Athlete of the Year...will also look to capture her third Pac-10 title in the heptathlon and become just the third woman to do so in conference history... indoors, ranks third all-time at ASU in the 60m hurdles (8.30) and fifth in the high jump (1.81m/5-11.25)... outdoors, ranks second in the heptathlon (5,987 points), second in the javelin (45.58m/149-06), fourth in the 100m hurdles (13.31) and fifth in the high jump (1.81m/5-11.25)... her heptathlon score also stands as the fifth-best in Pac-10 history... 2007 Outdoor: Continued her remarkable career with her third NCAA Heptathlon title and fifth multi-event crown overall... used outdoor personal best marks in the 800m run (2:19.54) and javelin (45.58m) to come from behind for the win with 5,984 points (off her personal best by three points)... her javelin mark of 45.58m is the second-longest in school history... finished third at the Pac-10 meet... scored at the Pac-10 meet in the high jump (seventh in 1.75m) and javelin (eighth in 43.39m)... won the heptathlon at the Mt. SAC event (5,681 points)... placed fifth in the heptathlon (5,826 points) at the USA Championships... Honorable Mention Academic All-Pac-10... 2007 Indoor: Won her second NCAA Pentathlon title with a personal-best mark of 4,393 points... won the 800m run in a personal best time of 2:13.52 to secure the title... prior to the meet, was selected to the NCAA Division I Silver Anniversary Team (pentathlon)... won the pentathlon title at the MPSF Championships... also won the 60m hurdles a the Mountain `T' and TCR meets... ran on the MPSF Championship 4x400m relay team... same quartet placed ninth at the NCAA Championships... earned Academic All-MPSF honors... 2006 Outdoor: Won her second heptathlon title in as many years, adding the 2006 crown to her 2004 title... won the event with 5,939 points with individual event wins in the 100m hurdles (13.34), high jump (1.78m/5-10.00) and long jump (6.09m/19-11.75)... her hurdle time is the fastest in school history in the heptathlon... victory earned her the fourth All-America honor of her career and led to two other awards: USTFCCCA Women's Co-National Field Athlete of the Year and USTFCCCA Women's West District Field Athlete of the Year... secured her second Pac-10 heptathlon title with a career-high 5,987 points and was named Pac-10 Athlete of the Week (May 9)... scored 29 points to help team to first Pac-10 title... finished second in the high jump, third in the 100m hurdles, sixth in the long jump and ran the third leg of the second-place 4x400m relay squad... scored in the heptathlon (10), high jump (8), 100m hurdles (6), long jump (3) and 4x400m relay (2)... selected Academic All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention... 2006 Indoor: Captured her first indoor multi-event title by winning the pentathlon with 4,287 points... won the pentathlon hurdles in 8.37, just off her personal best of 8.34 set earlier in the season... victory gave her the third All-America honor of her career... also competed in the individual high jump competition, tying for 14th place overall (1.76m/5-09.25)... in the pentathlon, won titles at the MPSF Championships (4,207 points) and the Husky Invitational (3,998 points)... 2005 Track: Redshirted following season of basketball for the Sun Devils...hoops team advanced to the Sweet 16...played in 17 games for the Sun Devils... 2004 Outdoor: Became the first Sun Devil since the 1996 outdoor season to win an NCAA title with her victory in the heptathlon...scored 5,807 points on her way to upsetting the defending champion...earned All-America honors in the heptathlon...also won the Pac-10 Championship in the heptathlon one week before winning the conference high jump crown and placing eighth in the 100m hurdles...selected as the 2004 Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year and Pac-10 Athlete of the Week (May 10)...ranks highly on several event lists for ASU...seventh all-time in the 100m hurdles (13.52), sixth in the high jump (1.77m) and second in the heptathlon (5,807 points)...also competed in the 2004 US Olympic Team trials, placing 12th in the meet... 2004 Indoor: Took national runner-up honors in her first NCAA meet, placing second in the pentathlon with 4,263 points...earned All-America honors for her NCAA finish...opened her collegiate career in stellar fashion by winning the pentathlon at the Boise State/Holiday Inn Invitational with 4,044 points...at that meet, won all five individual events (60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m run)...helped lead the women to wins over Arizona and Northern Arizona at the Double Dual by winning the individual high jump and 55m hurdles while placing second in the long jump and running the third leg of the winning 4x400m relay team.
High School: Graduate of Yuma High School (Yuma, Ariz.)...one of the most decorated athletes in Arizona high school history as a winner of 14 state titles in track and field...Johnson won gold four times in the high jump and long jump while winning state titles in the 100m hurdles and triple jump three times...in her sophomore and senior seasons, Johnson won the title in all four events...holds state records in the 100m hurdles (13.60) and the high jump (6-00), setting both in her senior season...established the hurdle mark as a sophomore before breaking it as a junior and then again as a senior...a three-sport standout, she lettered four times in track and field, basketball and volleyball...the Yuma Daily Star named her the 2003 Athlete of the Year...she also earned Arizona's Gatorade Athlete of the Year in 2003 for her performances on the track...was a four-time first-team all-region selection in all three sports as well as honorable mention all-Arizona in basketball as a senior...from 2000 through 2003, was named the team captain of both the volleyball and basketball teams.
