GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 2/17 Sun Devil Swim and Dive program extended its lead at the Big 12 Swim and Dive Championships as the Sun Devil women won three events and the men placed seven swimmers atop the podium in the 50 free.

The Arizona State women’s team successfully defended its titles in the 500 free, 50 free and the 200 IM to push its point total out to 521.5 following the second day of competition. 

Freshman Albane Cachot won her first individual Big 12 title in the 50 free with a personal best time of 21.80, out touching three Arizona Wildcats. Her winning time marked the second fastest in the event by a Sun Devil in program history.

Junior Sonia Vaishnani won the Big 12 title in the 200 IM with a personal-best 1:57.16, the sixth-fastest time in school history. Sophomore Jordan Greber earned the silver medal in 1:57.36 and sophomore Julia Ullmann rounded out the podium with a third place finish in 1:57.40, for the eighth-fastest time in program history.

To open the evening, senior Deniz Ertan won the 500 free by swimming an NCAA-qualifying time of 4:41.34, marking a season best. Junior Alexa Reyna was second, earning silver in 4:44.01. Junior Grace Lindberg placed fourth in 4:47.26.

On the men’s side, Ilya Kharun set a meet record in the 50 free with an 18.46 as the junior, along with seven additional Sun Devils, landed on the podium to hold the lead with 618 points following Wednesday’s action. 

Graduate Remi Fabiani placed second in 18.68, which is the fourth-best time in program history. Graduate Adam Chaney notched the bronze medal with a season-best time of 18.81, helping complete the podium sweep in the event. 

In the 500 free, Junior Reece Grady earned the bronze medal in 4:15.93. The men’s 200 IM featured junior JT Ewing swimming a season-best time of 1:43.92 with graduate Jordan Tiffany placing third in 1:43.98. 

Senior Lane Stallworth was fifth in the 3m consolation final with 289.20 points and senior Caleb Liban was seventh with 276.05 points. Junior Kayden Hayes scored points for the women’s team, placing 23rd in 1m diving with 229.55 points. 

Tomorrow’s preliminary swims begin with the 100 fly, 400 IM and the 200 free, along with the men’s 1m diving and women’s 3m diving, taking place at 9:30 a.m. on ESPN+.
