Big 12 Newcomer of the Week
The Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for games running Nov. 24-30 is Sun Devil point guard Moe Odum. In leading the Sun Devils to a 3-1 record during their road trip to Hawai’i, Odum put together one of the most productive weeks in college basketball.
He becomes the first Sun Devil to claim a weekly conference award since Jayden Quaintance was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 27, 2024.
Conference weekly honors under Hurley
This is the 17th time a Sun Devil has won a Conference Player of the Week award under Bobby Hurley and the first this season. Since joining the league before last season, Arizona State has already claimed three Newcomer of the Week honors. New this year is the introduction of the Big 12 Conference Starting Five, where three other individuals are recognized for their efforts in addition to the Player and Newcomer of the Week.
Odum is the first Sun Devil to be selected to a Big 12 Conference Starting Five. He joins some exclusive company on a list of conference weekly honorees, including recent standout guards Desmond Cambridge Jr., Josh Christopher, Remy Martin, Luguentz Dort, Shannon Evans II, and Tra Holder.
Dick Vitale's National Player of the Week

Taking down Texas
Behind a masterpiece from senior point guard Moe Odum, the Sun Devils defeated the Longhorns to advance to the semifinals of the Maui Invitational. It was ASU's first win over Texas since 1991 and the seventh win over a current SEC team in the Bobby Hurley era. He willed his team to victory with clutch shot after clutch shot down the stretch. Despite Arizona State trailing by as many as ten points in the half, they did not quit, rallying for a resume-building non-conference win away from home.
Odum delivered one of the greatest individual performances in program history. His 36 points were not only a career high, they were the most by a Sun Devil since Alonzo Verge had 43 vs. Saint Mary's on Dec. 18, 2019. It was tied for the eighth-highest scoring output by Sun Devil away from home (road or neutral) ever. It was his second career 30-point game. 36 was the most points by a Sun Devil in a win since Tra Holder had 40 vs #15 Xavier on Nov. 24, 2017.
