KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 2 Sun Devil Men’s Swimming moved into the CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge Championship after defeating No. 9 Tennessee, 33-11, Saturday afternoon at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. No. 18 Sun Devil Women’s Swimming dropped its dual against the No. 8 Lady Volunteers by a score of 25-19.

Graduate Remi Fabiani got the men started with a first-place finish in the 200 free, hitting the wall in 1:31.38 for the fourth fastest in ASU history. Senior Tommy Palmer registered a second-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 18.74. Junior JT Ewing joined the winners circle with a season best of 1:43.08 in the 200 IM, moving into the top 10 record books at ninth.

Sophomore Jordan Greber placed first in the 200 free, setting a personal best in the event at 1:45.14, putting her ninth overall in school history. Sonia Vaishnani was second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.27.

JT Ewing and Lucien Vergnes finished second and third in the 200 IM, helping the Sun Devils sweep the top-three spots. Ewing would later clinch the win in the 200 back with a season-best swim of 1:40.70.

Junior Ilya Kharun broke his own school record in the 200 fly with a time of 1:37.56. Filip Senc-Samardzic set a personal best of 1:41.75 in the same event. Andrew Taylor had a runner-up finish in the 500 free in 4:19.03.

Sophomore Julia Ullmann notched a second-place finish in the 200 fly at 1:55.80, which was a personal best at 1:55.80, good for fourth in school history. Gerda Szilagyi won the 200 back in 1:55.22.

Fabiani swam a season best in the 100 free by touching the wall in 41.18 for fifth in school history. Senior Andy Dobrzanski swam a 1:51.63 personal best time in the 200 breast to take home the win. Tiffany and Vergnes helped ASU sweep the event with a 2-3 finish.

Senior Sonia Vaishnani was second in the 200 breast, setting a personal best at 2:11.42. Lucie Vasquez followed closely behind placing third at 2:11.51.

The men’s team will race for the CSCAA Dual Meet championship on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 10:45 a.m. MST and faces the winner of Tennessee or Michigan. The dual can be watched on SEC Network+ or the USA Swimming Network.
