INDIANAPOLIS- With one day of competition left at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, the Sun Devils are in first place after three days of competition, thanks to a handful of terrific performances on Friday evening at the IU Natatorium.

The 400 medley relay of Kós, Marchand, Kharun and Kulow broke the NCAA record in the event on Friday evening with their winning time of 2:57.32. The relay was the first relay NCAA title in program history.

Earlier in the evening, Marchand repeated as the NCAA champion in the 400 IM as he swam a time of 3:32.12. It's the second individual title of the week for Marchand as he now has seven individual NCAA titles, which ties Jacquelyn Johnson for the most individual titles by a Sun Devil.

David Schlicht took second in the 400 IM for his second top-six finish of the week after placing sixth in the 200 IM yesterday. His second place finish marked his highest finish ever at the NCAA Championships.

In his first championship final of his career, Ilya Kharun took fifth in the 100 fly with a school record-setting time of 44.26.

The Sun Devils had a pair of top-six finishes in the 100 back from Kós (4th/44.13) and Owen McDonald (6th/44.46).

From the championship finals of each of these events plus the record setting relay, the Sun Devils combined for 119 points as they sit in first place after three days of competition.

Joining Marchand and Schlicht in the final of the 400 IM were Daniel Matheson and Cale Martter. Matheson took third in the consolation final with a time of 3:39.70 to place 11th overall while Martter was fifth in the consolation final to take 13th overall with a time of 3:40.83.

Julian Hill (12th/1:31.90) and Patrick Sammon (14th/1:31.99)  competed in the consolation final of the 200 free.

In the 100 back, Jack Dolan finished fourth in the consolation final, good for 12th overall with a time of 44.79.

MORNING PRELIMS
Four Sun Devils qualified for a final in the 400 IM, led by Marchand's time of 3:35.75 to be the top qualifier for the evening final. Joining him in the championship final was David Schlicht, who was in second with a time of 3:37.65.

Cale Martter (14th/3:41.47) and Daniel Matheson (15th/3:41.53) each clinched spots in the consolation final of the 400 IM. In the 400 IM preliminaries, Zalan Sarkany finished in 17th with a time of 3:41.94.

Ilya Kharun qualified for his first championship final, taking fourth in the 100 fly with a 44. Filip Senc-Samardzic (28th/45.47) and Alex Colson (29th/45.72) each competed in the morning preliminaries of the 100 fly for the Sun Devils.

In the 200 free, Patrick Sammon (12th/1:31.87) and Julian Hill (14th/1:32.10) each qualified for the consolation final. Tiago Behar competed in the 200 free, swimming a time of 1:32.86 to finish 29th.

Andy Dobrzanski swam the 100 breast as he finished 24th with a time of 52.16.

Owen McDonald (5th/44.25) and Hubert Kós (6th/ 44.39) each qualified for the championship final of the 100 back. Jack Dolan (11th/44.86) qualified for the consolation final. Also competing for the Sun Devils in the 100 back was Jack Wadsworth who swam a time of 46.90.
