ATHENS, Ga.- On the final day of the NCAA Championships, Lindsay Looney closed out the four-day meet with a seventh-place finish in the 200 fly on Saturday evening at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Her time of 1:52.80 is the fifth fastest in school history and had the second podium finish of her storied Sun Devil career. Looney continues to hold on to all top-10 times in the 200 fly. With her seventh-place finish, Looney picked up 12 points for the Sun Devils.
Looney became an All-American in the 200 fly for the second straight year and became a Second Team All-American in the 500 free with a 16th place finish on Thursday.
In the final event of the championships, the 400 free relay of Erin Milligan, Ieva Maluka, Molly Batchelor and Looney touched the wall with a school record time of 3:13.52 to take 19th.
Deniz Ertan and Alexa Reyna each competed in the 1650 free. Ertan swam a time of 16:06.07 and Reyna touched the wall at 16:32.42.
The Sun Devils placed 24th in the final team standings for their highest finish in five years. The Virginia Women won their fourth consecutive national championship, outpacing runner-up Texas and third-place Florida.
MORNING PRELIMS
Charli Brown competed in the 200 back, swimming a time of 1:54.33 that broke the school record while Looney's time of 1:53.13 in the 200 fly was the sixth fastest in school history.
Maluka competed in the 100 free and swam a 49.05 while Zoe Summar competed in the 200 breast touching the wall at 2:11.22.
