TEMPE, Ariz. – For the second week in a row, Arizona State gymnastics is in Desert Financial Arena, hosting UC Davis in the Beauty and the Beast meet on Friday with ASU wrestling competing in the arena simultaneously.
The Gym Devils (2-2) are coming off of their home opener against the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners. In the meet, ASU scored a 49.150 on floor, the highest event score of the season so far. Senior Jessica Ginn earned a career-high 9.900 on floor, the first 9.900 of the year for ASU.
The Sun Devil freshmen have been a major part of the 2020 campaign. Last week, Juliette Boyer and Gracie Reeves both competed in the all-around, Boyer leading the way with a 39.050. Hannah Scharf, Isabel Redmond and Alina Miller have also contributed in their freshman season. Additionally, sophomore Megan Thompson and junior Maya Williams have made their collegiate debuts this season.
Friday's meet will begin at 7 p.m. MST and will be broadcast on the ASU live stream, with separate broadcasts for gymnastics and wrestling. Tickets are available at SunDevilTickets.com. The first 200 fans in the arena will receive free light-up horns. Everyone is encouraged to wear black to match the teams who are wearing all black. - They have not qualified for NCAA regionals as a team since 2014, but they have sent at least one individual to regionals every season since. Last year, Kelley Hebert represented UC Davis in the all-around.
