SEATTLE, Wash. – The Sun Devil track and field team travels to the Pacific Northwest for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Conference Championships at the Dempsey Indoor Center at the University of Washington on Feb. 24-25.

While several Sun Devils will be vying for a conference championship, the entire team is eyeing the two Territorial Cup® points up for grabs against the University of Arizona.

"It's definitely always a focus for this meet," said head coach Greg Kraft of the two points. "It's evolved in its importance to the overall scheme of the indoor season, with this recently being added to the Territorial Cup. Every time we compete against the U of A it always seems to be a tight battle. This year is no different. It's going to be a punch, counter-punch type competition."

Like swim and dive, men's and women's golf, and cross country, the highest finishing men's and women's team after the conference meet will each earn a point in the Territorial Cup® race.

Redshirt junior Maggie Ewen will look to defend her 2016 MSPF weight throw championship, while attempting to outdo her second-place finish in the shot put a year ago. Currently, Ewen holds the top MPSF marks in both events entering the weekend.

"We'll be counting on Maggie to give us 20 points between the weight throw and shot put," said Kraft. "Keyasia Tibbs was second last year in the triple jump, and has been dinged up a bit this year, but also won the MPSF event two years ago as a freshman. When you go to a championship event, your heavy lifting is done by people that can win. Along with Maggie, Keyasia also has an ability to win and Darreyl Woodson presents an opportunity to earn double-digit points."

Both Tibbs and Woodson hold top-five MPSF marks in the triple jump entering this weekend, and both are within a foot of the top jump by Oregon's Chaquinn Cook.

The women will also rely on potential top-five finishes from senior Chelsey Albertson in the 5,000-meter event and redshirt freshman Kaylee Antill in the weight throw.

Juniors Kristiana Warth and Shaunie Morrison also have potential to score for the Devils in the pole vault and long jump, respectively. Morrison also will compete in the 60-meter hurdles.

On the men's side, junior Drelan Bramwell and freshman Paul Lucas are in the hunt in the men's 60-meter dash. Last year, the Sun Devils captured the top-three spots in the event behind former Devils' Jamol James, Reggie Lewis and Isaiah Underwood.

Bramwell will also run in the men's 200-meter dash, as he enters with the eighth-best time this season among the conference.

In the men's 400-meter event, senior Herb Polk is a man on a mission. He currently holds the fourth-fastest time in the event during the indoor season at 46.86, which is .45 seconds behind USC's Ricky Morgan, Jr., who won the event in 2016 at 46.45.

Senior CJ Albertson is among the top-six in the men's 5,000-meter event after setting the ASU record two weeks ago with a time of 13:50.24. He's right in the mix for a potential top-five finish.

The men's 4x400 relay, which will feature Polk, Bramwell, sophomore Brandon Hasson and Lucas, are also in the mix with the third-fastest time this season at 3:09.87. Lucas has yet to run in the relay with the Devils, thus providing potential for a breakout performance.

In the field events, sophomore Joey Bryant in the high jump, senior Garrett Starkey in the pole vault, and Kyle Long in the weight throw are Sun Devils to watch among the top-five finishers in their respective events. All have the potential to walk away as MPSF Champions as well.

Heptathlete Liam Henshaw and senior Tom Anderson in the shot put are two others on the outside looking into the top-five.

The two-day event begins on Friday, Feb. 24 at 12 p.m. PST with the women's weight throw, featuring Ewen, Antill and senior Ashley Weber.
