Head Coach Dennis Erickson
On the team's performance today:
"There were some good things [and] some bad things, like any scrimmage or any spring game. I thought defensively we did some awfully good things and ran around real well. I thought the hitting was very good. I thought we tackled well. We executed well at some times. I thought we ran the football well at times. It ended up like how you want to end the spring game, 17-17 tie."
On the progress of the offensive line through spring practice:
"We made a lot of progress. Are we where we need to be? No, we've got a long way to go, but I thought, from the beginning of the spring to where we're at now, it's way better. I thought our pass protecting has been a lot better. I thought we protected pretty well today. That's been an area of concern, but they've made a lot of progress."
On QB Rudy Carpenter:
"He had a great spring. That's the bottom line. I think people overrate the spring game. Obviously, he wasn't on today as much as he could have been, but Rudy Carpenter had a great spring. He's our quarterback. He didn't throw probably as well today as he will when we open up. Rudy's made so much improvement with his delivery and all the different things he's been doing."
On LB Gerald Munns:
"Munns has played really well. He's kind of been the leader of that defense in the middle and done a lot of things for us. He ran around and made tackles, did some really good things for us today. But all spring, he's kind of emerged."
On running backs Dimitri Nance and Shaun DeWitty:
"I thought both of them ran real well. I thought Dimitri did a nice job on the white team, played very well and did some good things, and Shaun made some big plays for us on his team."
On if this game affirmed his thoughts on how the team has progressed this spring:
"We were a little rusty at times. I don't think we threw and caught it like we need to. A lot of improvement needs to be made there. But, I thought as far as the overall spring, we made a lot of progress. Today was fun. It ended up like we wanted it to end up. I didn't think we were probably as sharp as we need to be offensively."
