PHOENIX - Sun Devil Baseball stayed undefeated this past week with its win over UConn and a series sweep over St. John's. It will look to keep that going this week as it takes on four consecutive ranked SEC opponents: No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 4 Mississippi State, No. 20 Tennessee, and No. 23 Texas A&M.

On Tuesday, both batting and pitching performances were impressive. The Sun Devils scored 17 runs and also struck out 14 batters in their win over UConn. Starting pitcher Kole Klecker struck out four batters in the first two innings, and Landon Hairston came through offensively. He racked up seven RBIs, including a grand slam and a three-RBI double. Dominic Lingo almost hit for the cycle, coming up a triple short.

On Friday, the Sun Devils kicked off their series against St. John's with a 9-1 victory. Cole Carlon was efficient on the mound for ASU. pitching six innings and allowing only one run while recording nine strikeouts. The Sun Devils got help from the long ball, as Dean Toigo had a two-run homer in the second inning, Dominic Smaldino added a solo home run in the fourth, and Nu’u Contrades topped it off with his second grand slam of the season.

On Saturday, strong performances on the mound helped the Sun Devils take the series with a 3-1 win. Colin Linder started the game off strong, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing only one run while striking out five. The Sun Devils scored in consecutive two-out scenarios in the second and the third and added some insurance with another run in the fifth to hang on for the win.

The bats were busy on Sunday as ASU swept the series, taking the finale, 16-6. The Sun Devils scored five or more runs in three innings and had 18 total hits throughout the game. Six players had multi-hit performances, with sophomore outfielder Ky McGary, who made his first collegiate start, putting on an impressive performance with a three-hit game. He also tallied three runs and walked twice. This helped him reach base in all five of his plate appearances on Sunday. Other Sun Devils had big days, including freshman Cooper Clouser, who picked up his first collegiate hit.

The Sun Devils will look to stay undefeated as they travel to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in a two-game set. ASU will then take part in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, where they will square off with Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

The Sooners are coming off a series sweep themselves, as they defeated Coppin State in all three games, and their offense combined for 57 runs throughout the series. Oklahoma is undefeated going into its series against the Sun Devils.

The Bulldogs also had a successful weekend, as they swept Delaware. Mississippi State holds a 8-0 record after the second weekend of the season.

The Volunteers are coming off a 1-2 performance over the weekend against Kent State. Their two losses are the only ones that they have recorded so far this season, after starting off the season 5-0.

The Aggies went 3-0 over the weekend in a series against Penn, and they completed the sweep by beating the Quakers 7-1 in Sunday's game.
