SOPHOMORE (2025)
- Cole Carlon became one of the top relievers in college baseball as a sophomore, earning All-America honors from the NCBWA to become ASU’s 135th all-time All-American… Also earned All-Big 12 first team recognition and was named the Collegiate National Team for USA Baseball
- Among D1 pitchers with at least 500+ pitches in the regular season, Carlon’s 41.9 whiff percentage was 2nd in the nation… His 55.3 whiff percentage on his slider was 5th among pitchers that threw it at least 150 times.
- Carlon allowed just 16 hits in his last 33.2 innings of work of the regular season and 68 of those 102 outs came via strikeout
- Carlion had a 2.82 ERA in the regular season season with a 3-1 record and three saves and only a paltry .147 batting average against over 51.0 innings
- He had 82 strikeouts in the regular season, third on the Sun Devils, 10th in the Big 12 and 105th in the nation - but notable as all came out of the bullpen
- Of the 117 players in D1 baseball to record 80 strikeouts in the regular season season, Carlon accomplished the feat in the second fewest innings of work (Vanderbilt’s Connor Fennell, 82 in 50.1 innings)
- Carlon had a streak of consecutive batters retired ended at 28 after his two-out walk in the sixth in the Saturday game against Cincinnati… UC’s leadoff double in the ninth ended Carlon’s streak of 13.0 straight innings with no hits dating back to March 21 vs. #22 Kansas over six appearances.
- He recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work in the Sunday victory over Arizona… That number marked the second-most for a Sun Devil reliever since 2021 (Tie: Tyler Thornton- 11 vs. Rhode Island 4/30/21; Hunter Omlid- 11 vs. Utah Valley 3/19/24)... At one point, Carlon retired seven straight batters on strikeouts, which is tied for the fourth-most consecutive strikeouts by a Sun Devil in program history.
FRESHMAN (2024)
- Saw significant playing time as a true freshman, recording 40.2 innings over 26 games with two starts
- Struck out 34 over the course of the season and gave up just two earned runs through his first eight collegiate appearances with two saves
- Had a season high seven strikeouts against Cal State Fullerton and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings of relief against eventual NCAA runner up Texas A&M
- Went on to be named the Alaska Baseball League Most Outstanding Player in the summer after showing off his two-ways skills
- Posted the second-best average in the league at .349 and adding three home runs while also striking out 31 over 26.1 innings with a 3.08 ERA
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
- Local product tabbed as the No. 12 overall player in Arizona by Perfect Game and No. 11 by Prep Baseball Report, recognized as the No. 2 LHP by both outlets... Ranked the No. 315 prospect in the country overall by PBR and a Top-50 southpaw and a Top-500 prospect by PG and the No. 65 LHP in the country
- His 94 MPH fastball on the club circuit put him in the 99.62 percent of pitchers in the country...Did more with his bat on the 2022 travel ball slate, batting .350 over 10 games and 20 ABs with seven RBIs and just tree strikeouts
- Was dominant on the mound as a senior at Corona Del Sol, posting a 1.95 ERA and an 8-2 record with 90 strikeouts over 61.0 innings pitched and just a .230 average against... Also bat .375 as a senior with nine doubles, two triples and five homers for a .693 slugging percentage and a .486 OBP for a gaudy 1.179 OPS
- Named the the Arizona Republic's All-State Team as a pitcher after leading the Aztecs to the 6A tourney
