Tempe, Ariz. – The No.6 Sun Devil men's team took down No.1 California and No.9 Stanford at this weekend's tri-meet at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The No. 18 women's team put up a resilient effort against No.4 Stanford and No. 9 California.

Sophomore Ilya Kharun continued his dominant 2024 campaign with another strong effort. The Bronze medalist secured first place wins in the 50 yard freestyle (18.67) and 100 yard butterfly (44.01). Kharun also played a vital role in winning the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:14.35 alongside Jonny Kulow, Patrick Sammon, and Tommy Palmer

Junior Jonny Kulow had a very impressive showing, playing a key role in both the 800 and 200 yard freestyle victories for the Sun Devils. Kulow also placed third in his lone individual event, the 50 yard freestyle in 19.28. 

Freshman Julia Ullman stole the show on the women's side. Ullman won the 100 fly in 52.05, which was the fastest time of the day in the event. It's also a personal best and the fastest time by a Sun Devil in the event this season. Caroline Bentz was second in the 200 back, clocking in at 1:54.70 and Zoe Summar placed third in the 200 breast in 2:10.51.

The maroon & gold will track back to Greensboro, N.C to compete in the NC State GAC Invitational on Nov. 21-23 to wrap up their fall schedule.

Event-by-Event Breakdown:
800 Free Relay
The Sun Devil men's relay team took home first place in the 800 free relay. The squad of Patrick Sammon, Tiago Behar, Filip Senc-Samardzic and Jonny Kulow posted a 6:13.18 in the win. The Sun Devil women's relay team placed fifth. 
 
200 Breast
Zoe Summar finished third for the women's team in 2:10.51. Andy Dombrzanski placed third, finishing in 1:54.03 for the men's team where Oscar Bilbao added a fifth place finish in 1:55.28

200 Back
Caroline Bentz was second for the women's team finishing in 1:54.70. Lucien Vergnes took second place on the men's side, finishing in 1:42.32. Jack Wadsworth took home a fourth place finish for the men in 1:43.16 as well.

50 Free
Mary Brinker paced the women's team, finishing 7th in 22.94. Ilya Kharun continued his dominance for the men's team, winning the race in 18.67. Jonny Kulow had a strong showing as well, finishing in 19.28 which was good for third place.

500 Free
Alex Reyna led the women's team to a second place finish in 4:44.92. Daniel Matheson took home third on the men's side finishing in 4:19.75. Jake Mason added a fifth place finish in 4:21.21. 

100 Fly
The men and women's teams both clinched a first-place effort in the 100 Fly. Freshman Julia Ullman led the women's team by posting a 52.05. Ilya Kharun picked up his second individual win of the day for the men, finishing with a 44.01

200 IM
Sonia Vaishnani paced ASU with a sixth place finish in 2:00.78. Zoe Summar, Charli Brown and Ginger McMahon competed for the women as well. On the men's side, Lucien Vergnes placed third in 1:45.36. Michael Hochwalt secured a fifth place finish for the Sun Devils in 1:46.40

200 Free Relay
The men took home a first-place win in 1:14.35 anchored by Ilya Kharun, Patrick Sammon, Tommy Palmer and Jonny Kulow which was good for their second relay win of the day. The women's team led by Caroline Bentz, Erin Milligan, Miriam Sheehan and Julia Ullman finished second in the 200 free relay in 1:29.64.
