BERKELEY, Calif.-- No. 1/19 Sun Devil Swim and Dive ended their weekend with a slew of top-10 opponents as they made the trip to Berkeley to complete their weekend trip to the Bay Area.
 
The No. 1 Sun Devil men tied with the No. 3 California Bears 150-150, who are the two-time defending national champions, while the No. 19 Sun Devil women fell to the No. 9 California women, 212-88. Additionally, 13 pool records were broken at the Spieker Aquatic Center for the Sun Devil men.

SUN DEVIL NOTABLES
  • History repeats itself! Zalan Sarkany broke his school record in the 1000 free for the third consecutive meet in a row as he swam a 8:37.82 in today's meet. In addition to winning the 1000 free, Sarkany has now also won the 500 free in each of the three meets he has competed in this season.
  • Léon Marchand went a perfect 3-for-3 in individual events he competed in this afternoon. He won the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM.
  • Deniz Ertan won the 1000 free for the sixth time this season after winning the event today with a 9:37.44 finish. She additionally finished second in the 500 free for the Sun Devil women and competed in the 200 fly.
  • Lindsay Looney has won the 200 fly in each dual she has competed in this season. Her 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay each finished third this afternoon.
  • Ilya Kharun also has gone undefeated in the 200 fly in each dual he has competed in this season. He has swept the butterfly events in three dual meets this season.
 
Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay
The relay of Charli Brown-Zoe Summar-Lindsay Looney-Erin Milligan took third place with a time of 1:37.99.
 
Men's 200 Yard Medley Relay
Hubert Kós, Léon Marchand, Ilya Kharun and Jonny Kulow finished second with a 1:21.77 finish.
 
Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle
The 1-2 punch of Deniz Ertan and Alexa Reyna took the first two spots for the Sun Devil women with Ertan finishing with a time of 9:37.44 and Reyna with a 9:42.59.
 
Men's 1000 Yard Freestyle
Sarkany broke his own school record for the third meet in a row as he clocked in a time of 8:37.82.
 
Women's 200 Yard Freestyle
Maluka finished in third with a time of 1:45.02.
 
Men's 200 Yard Freestyle
Julian Hill took second with a 1:33.27 time and Patrick Sammon rounded out the top four with a 1:33.52.
 
Women's 100 Yard Backstroke
Katrina Marty placed second with a time of 53.45 and Brown was fourth with a 54.30.
 
Men's 100 Yard Backstroke
Kós was second with a 44.97 and McDonald took third with a time of 46.43.
 
Women's 100 Yard Breast
Summar placed third with a time of 1:00.97.
 
Men's 100 Yard Breast
Marchand won his first individual event of the day with a time of 51.37.
 
Women's 200 Yard Butterfly
Looney won the event with a 1:53.51 finish.  Foelske and Deniz Ertan rounded out the top five.

Kharun won the event with a 1:39.92 time and Alex Colson and Filip Senc Samardzic rounded out the top five.
 
Women's 50 Yard Freestyle
Milligan took fourth with a time of 22.62.
 
Men's 50 Yard Freestyle
Kulow finished in third place with a time of 19.23 with teammates Jack Dolan and Cam Peel finishing in the top five.
 
Women's 100 Yard Freestyle
Milligan took second with a time of 48.72 with Maluka right behind with a time of 48.85 to round out the top three.
 
Men's 100 Yard Freestyle
Kulow had a third-place finish with a time of 42.11 and Dolan took fifth with a time of 42.84.
 
Women's 200 Yard Backstroke
Brown posted a third-place time of 1:58.85 and Athena Clayson rounded out the top five.
 
Men's 200 Yard Backstroke
Kós' time of 1:39.07 won the event for the Sun Devils to win an individual event for the Sun Devil men.
 
Women's 200 Yard Breaststroke
The Sun Devil women's highest finisher in this event was Zoe Summar, who took fourth with a time of 2:12.55.
 
Men's 200 Yard Breastroke
Marchand won his second individual event of the day as he swam a 1:51.80 and Schlicht was second with a time of 1:53.06.
 
Women's 500 Yard Freestyle
Ertan had a second place finish as she swam a 4:41.77 time.
 
Men's 500 Yard Freestyle
Sarkany won his second event of the day with Hill and Jake Mason rounding out the top four for the Sun Devil men.
 
Women's 100 Yard Butterfly
The highest finisher in this event was Looney, who swam the event in 52.85 to place fifth overall.
 
Men's 100 Yard Butterfly
Kharun swept the fly events with a time of 44.54 with Colson and Senc Samardzic rounding out the top four.
 
Women's 200 Yard IM
With a time of 1:56.06, Maluka finished second overall and Brown took third with a time of 1:59.40.
 
Men's 200 Yard IM
Marchand won his third individual event of the day as he swam a 1:38.93 with Kós taking third with a time of 1:41.97 and Schlicht taking fourth with a 1:43.28.
 
Women's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay
Milligan- Armon- Looney- Straume finished third in the final event of the day for the Sun Devil women with a time of 1:30.30.
 
Men's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay
The Sun Devil men won the final event of a meet that went down to the event as Dolan-Kharun-Peel-Kharun swam a 1:15.07.
 
Diving Events
In the women's 1-meter, Kayden Hayes took second with a score of 238.28 and Ashlyn Kirsch was fourth with a 198.50. In the men's 1-meter, Zachory Lundgren finished third with a score of 289.50 and Lane Stallworth was fifth with a 282.75 finish.
 
In the women's 3-meter, Hayes was third with a score of 258.45, Kirsch in fourth with a 206.25 and Brewer in fifth with a score of 187.20. Stallworth was fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 307.88 and Lundgren was fifth with a 291.45.
 
Up Next
The diving program will travel to Colorado for the Air Force Invite from February 1 through February 3. Both swim and dive will travel down to Tucson for a meet with in-state rival No. 20/NR Arizona on Saturday, February 10 at 12 p.m.
