MARLBORO, N.J. – Sun Devil Gymnastics had 15 on the 2023-24 WCGA Academic All-America list, including four with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
With a team GPA of 3.5952, Arizona State had 15 on the WCGA list, the seventh time in the last eight years with 10 or more earning the honor. To earn WCGA Scholastic All-America status, student-athletes must earn a 3.5 overall GPA for the entire school year.
Five seniors earned their fourth-consecutive scholastic All-American nod: Cassi Barbanente, Sarah Clark, Jada Mangahas, Cienna Samiley and Emily White. For Clark, Mangahas and White, they will be returning for a fifth year and will have a chance next year to get a fifth academic All-America honor. Additionally, four Gym Devils had a perfect 4.0 GPA: Mangahas, Samiley, Hannah Scharf and Alex Theodorou
The Gym Devil squad continues to excel in the classroom. The team had 12 on the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll, which requires a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3-or-above and at least one year in residence at the institution. Additionally, Managahas and White earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
Overall, 1,174 student-athletes earned a 3.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale, the most ever recorded (since it began in 2008). There were 296 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA, another record.
