FALL RECAP
MCGUIRE INVITATIONAL (SEPT. 11-12)
Arizona State finished in third place in their return to the McGuire Invitational, beating out 13 teams in the initial event of the 2023-24 campaign. It was a balanced effort that helped the Sun Devils to an impressive performance over the two days, as four individuals finished in the Top-20. Ashley Menne led the way for the Maroon & Gold, appearing to be in mid-season form on her way to a sixth place finish. Grace Summerhays put together a strong effort in order to tie for 14th. Patience Rhodes and Paula Schulz-Hanssen joined them in the Top-20, with the pair finishing tied for 17th. All six Sun Devils earned valuable experience that will be critical for the rest of the 2023-24 season.

MASON RUDOLPH INVITATIONAL (SEPT. 22-24)
Arizona State (-13/851) finished in fourth place as a team after posting a 285 (-3), moving two spots up the leaderboard on the final day of the Mason Rudolph Invitational in September. The Maroon & Gold were the top finishing non-SEC team at the tournament played in the footprint of the league, as Coach Farr-Kaye's team proved to be able to handle the change in geography. The Mason Rudolph Invitational featured 11 teams ranked inside GOLF Channel's preseason Top-35 and ASU beat out seven of them this weekend.

The Sun Devils were led by sophomore Paula Schulz-Hanssen, who was fantastic on her way to a Top-5 finish. She completed the Mason Rudolph Invitational at 209 (-7), capping the event with a 69 (-3) to move into a tie for fifth. She was joined by Beth Coulter (T16th) and Grace Summerhays (T20th) in the Top-20 of a loaded individual field.

WINDY CITY COLLEGIATE (OCT. 2-3)
Sun Devil Women's Golf returned to the Windy City Collegiate Classic, playing three rounds in two days. Arizona State continued their ascent up the leaderboard, climbing an additional two spots thanks to a solid final round. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's group shot a 288 (E) on the last day to move into a tie for 10th. The only teams to finish ahead of the Maroon & Gold other than host Northwestern entered the event in the Golfweek Top-30. Ashley Menne and Patience Rhodes led the way individually, each solidifying Top-20 finishes after carding a 70 (-2) in round three.

STANFORD INTERCOLLEGIATE (OCT. 20-22)
Sun Devil Women's Golf completed the Fall portion of the 2023-24 campaign at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Arizona State finished in seventh place out of 19 teams in a loaded field at Stanford Golf Course. Ashley Menne led the way individually, earning a spot in the Top-25 among a field of 100 golfers. Patience Rhodes enjoyed the best day of any Sun Devil, firing a 69 (-2) to move 15 spots up the leaderboard and into the Top-30. All five Sun Devils enjoyed stretches of strong play during the Fall, giving Sun Devil Women's Golf fans plenty to be excited about heading into the Spring. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team will now enjoy a two month break before taking on their Spring schedule, which begins on January 22nd in Gold Canyon, Arizona for the Match in the Desert.

SPRING RECAP
MATCH IN THE DESERT (JAN. 22)

Arizona State (-9/279) put together a terrific score on the way to finishing in third place to open the Spring at the Match in the Desert. Ashley Menne led the way with an outstanding performance, carding a 66 (-6) on her way to earning second place at the 34-golfer event. Five in Maroon & Gold registered rounds at or under par which helped ASU finish with its third-lowest team score of the season.

THERESE HESSION REGIONAL CHALLENGE (FEB. 4-6)
The Therese Hession Regional Challenge, which was originally scheduled for three stroke-play rounds from Feb. 4-6, was moved up a day due to the weather conditions. The format was also switched from traditional stroke-play to a bracket-style Match Play setup. Arizona State faced off with Pepperdine in their only match on Sunday, taking down the No. 20-ranked Waves in impressive fashion. The Maroon and Gold won 4.5 of the potential 5 points that were up for grabs thanks to four victories and one tie.

Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team gained valuable experience competing in their first Match Play event of the season. The NCAA Championship is decided via Match Play, giving the Sun Devils a glimpse of what would come should they make an end-of-the-season run. Not only was the format change beneficial, the competition present at the event was also fierce. ASU took on a Top-10 Texas team in the first round followed by tournament host Ohio State, who is also ranked in the Top-50. They managed to knock off No. 20 Pepperdine, who made it to NCAA Championship Match Play a season ago.

DUAL IN THE DESERT VS. DENVER (FEB. 25)
Sun Devil Women's Golf won the Dual in the Desert by defeating Denver in Match Play on Feb. 25 at Papago Golf Club. Then-No. 23 Arizona State took down No. 50 Denver in the one-day, match play style event hosted by the Pioneers. Coach Farr-Kaye's team took care of business, winning four of the six matches en route to their second match play victory of the season. ASU earned their second victory over a Top-50 team in matches despite only having played in two events with the format.

Grace Summerhays  cruised to an impressive victory to start the scoring, needing only 14 holes to clinch the match. Patience Rhodes captured a win giving ASU the advantage in both Group 1 matches and a 3-0 lead overall. It was Beth Coulter's clutch 18th hole that sealed the deal for Arizona State, as she took home the victory in her match on the final hole.

DARIUS RUCKER INTERCOLLEGIATE (MARCH 4-6)
Sun Devil Women's Golf won the 2024 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in South Carolina earlier in the month of March. Featuring live coverage on GOLF Channel, the 2024 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate was considered one of the most prestigious events of the 2023-24 women's collegiate golf schedule. In a field containing three of the Top-5, six of the Top-10, and 11 of the Top-25 teams in the nation, No. 19 Arizona State emerged victorious. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye adds yet another signature tournament victory to her decorated resume.

It was a total team effort that led the Sun Devils (+3/855) past No. 11 Northwestern, as several individuals stepped up under pressure to help ASU secure the victory. Clutch holes down the stretch from Grace SummerhaysPatience Rhodes, and Beth Coulter allowed Arizona State to clinch their first team title since the 2022 PING/ASU Invitational.

Five of the Top-10, 10 of the Top-25, and 22 of the Top-50 golfers in the nation were competing for the individual crown at Long Cove. Grace Summerhays finished tied for seventh in the deep and talented field, battling some of the sport's most recognizable names for top positioning on the leaderboard. Patience Rhodes and Beth Coulter each tied for 12th, which put them ahead of seven of the Top-25 golfers in the nation. Ashley Menne and Paula Schulz-Hanssen each provided counting scores at different points throughout the week, playing a major factor in Arizona State winning the championship.

DR. DONNIS THOMPSON INVITATIONAL (MARCH 17-19)
Sun Devil Women's Golf and Ashley Menne came home from Hawai'i with some hardware. Arizona State (-42/822) won the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational team championship while Ashley Menne claimed the individual title, both in record-breaking fashion. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team shattered the program record for 54-hole scoring vs. par by an incredible 17 strokes, eclipsing the previous mark of 25-under set back in 2022. Ashley Menne (-14/202) now has the best 54-hole score vs. par in the history of Sun Devil Women's Golf, breaking Brandie Burton's 35-year-old record.

The Maroon and Gold won their 18th team championship and Ashley Menne became the 16th individual champion during the Missy Farr-Kaye era. This is the first time since 2021 that ASU has won back-to-back event titles as a team and only the third time since 2009. It was a complete effort by the entire lineup from start to finish with Arizona State recording the lowest round each of the three days. Four of the Top-10 and three of the Top-5 finishers were Sun Devils, as Coach Farr-Kaye's team dominated the event. Finishing right behind Ashley Menne was Patience Rhodes (-11/205), who earned bronze medalist honors. Her 11-under 54-hole score vs. par is tied for the third-best in program history. Also in the Top-5 for the second-time in her career was Beth Coulter (-9/207), as she ended in fifth. Paula Schulz-Hanssen (-8/208) claimed sole possession of sixth-place, meaning four of the Top-6 finishers were Sun Devils.

PING/ASU INVITATIONAL (MARCH 28-30)
Sun Devil Women's Golf ended the 2024 PING/ASU Invitational strong, moving up the leaderboard on the final day at Papago Golf Club. No. 13 Arizona State (-8/856) finished with the best round of the day allowing them to jump six spots into a tie for second. The PING/ASU Invitational runner-up results is another impressive performance for Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team, as the field featured eight Top-15 teams. The Maroon & Gold only trailed PING/ASU Invitational Team Champions No. 11 Northwestern by three strokes as they leap-frogged several teams thanks to a fantastic effort on Saturday. ASU finished ahead of No. 1 Stanford, No. 6 USC, No. 7 Texas, and No. 12 Oregon, while matching No. 4 UCLA's second-place outcome.

Two Sun Devils finished in the Top-10 of the individual race, as both Ashley Menne (-3/213) and Grace Summerhays (-3/213) tied for ninth. The duo used rounds in the 60s to make a major move up the standings, as Summerhays' 68 (-4) was the second-best score of the day with Menne following behind with a 69 (-3). Joining Menne and Summerhays in capping their event by climbing the standings were Beth Coulter and Paula Schulz-Hanssen, who both contributed to the Sun Devils carding the lowest round of the day.

POSTSEASON
PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIP (APRIL 21-23)

Sun Devil Women's Golf completed their final round in the last Pac-12 Championship, hosted at Palouse Ridge Golf Club. No. 12 Arizona State finished in seventh place among 11 teams in the first step of the postseason. Grace Summerhays led the way for the Sun Devils, shooting 71 (-1) to earn a Top-20 finish (T18th). Beth Coulter (T26th) also finished in the top half of a 55-golfer field. The Maroon and Gold made a late push at the end, recording eight birdies over their final five holes after having just two through the first 13.

NCAA REGIONALS (MAY 6-8)
The Sun Devils advanced to the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship thanks to a total team effort over the three days at Tumble Creek Club in Cle Elum. Battling challenging conditions in the Pacific Northwest throughout the week, Arizona State had to show grit and determination in order to secure their spot. Three Sun Devils found themselves in the Top-20 when it was all said and done, led by senior Ashley Menne. She ensured her team would not miss out on a NCAA Championship appearance, coming through with the best result of any Sun Devil. Menne earned a tie for 9th, her 14th Top-10 and 25th Top-20 finish of her career. Not far behind Menne was sophomore Beth Coulter, as she ended in sole possession of 12th place. This is her eighth career Top-20 finish as she will make her NCAA Championship debut. The third Sun Devil in the Top-20 was Paula Schulz-Hanssen, who carded the best round of the day for ASU. Her 70 (-2) was a big reason why the Maroon & Gold were able to create separation from the fifth-place cutoff.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP (MAY 17-20)
The Sun Devil Women's Golf season came to an end at the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, hosted at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. No. 15 Arizona State put forth a valiant effort, but ultimately fell one stroke short of making the Top-15 cut which would have allowed them to advance to the fourth round at the NCAA Championship. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team finished with an 890 over three rounds, placing them 16 out of 30 teams at the premiere collegiate event of the season. Although the Sun Devil season is over as a team, two members of the squad will play on thanks to their status as Top-9 individual qualifiers from non-advancing teams.

By virtue of finishing tied for 34th in a field of 156 golfers, both Ashley Menne and Patience Rhodes earned the chance to compete for the individual national title in the final day of stroke play. The NCAA allows the Top-9 individuals in the final standings from non-advancing teams to continue their run at the NCAA Championship. Ashley Menne secured sole possession of 18th place, while Patience Rhodes finished tied for 39th in a field of the top 156 golfers in the country. Despite Arizona State being eliminated as a team the previous day, the entire Sun Devil squad was out on the course to support their teammates as they made an individual push. Menne posted a 291 (+3) through four days, earning her second-career Top-20 finish at a NCAA Championship (4th in 2021). Rhodes ends her first season of competition representing the Maroon & Gold in impressive fashion, giving ASU fans plenty to be excited about with the future of the program.

Of the nine individuals that continued playing from non-advancing teams, Menne ended the highest of any despite ranking nine out of nine heading into the round. The senior was extremely consistent in delivering a 71 (-1) in her final round as a Sun Devil, moving up 16 spots on the leaderboard. In a fitting ending to her decorated career, Menne chipped-in for birdie on the final hole to move to one-under on the day and secure her 26th career Top-20 finish. Rhodes maintained her positioning in the standings thanks to a strong end to her round, finishing even over her final 11 holes.

QUOTABLES
"It was critical to be able to be here the first year of a new three-year cycle," Coach Farr-Kaye referenced in regards to the NCAA Championship being hosted in Carlsbad from 2024-26. "The amount we learned over the five days was fantastic. This is no longer a place we don't know. Omni La Costa and the University of Texas were a great host. We can't wait to be back."

"Being a Sun Devil has been amazing," senior Ashley Menne remarked. "I have loved every single year of being here with my coaches. Reflecting back, I am grateful to be a Sun Devil and I'll still be around the program. I am going to be a Sun Devil for Life."

COACH OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE
Sun Devil Women's Golf Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye landed on the Division I Jackie Steinmann National Coach of the Year Watch List, the WGCA announced in May. Farr-Kaye has been identified as one of the top leaders having guided her alma mater to a No. 15 national ranking and two impressive tournament wins. She is in contention for her second coach of the year honor of her career, having been named the consensus 2017 National Coach of the Year by every publication after leading Arizona State to a National Championship. A Sun Devil Women's Golf Head Coach has won a National Coach of the Year award on six different occasions, with Linda Vollstedt responsible for four of those.

This season can be considered one of Farr-Kaye's best coaching jobs yet, as the team has yet to stop improving over the course of the year. Major strides have been made by every individual on the roster resulting in an extremely successful Spring campaign. No. 15 Arizona State has made the NCAA Championship for the 38th time, tying Stanford for the most in the nation. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye is looking to lead the program to a record ninth NCAA Title and her second at the helm in Tempe.

The Sun Devils were one of the deepest teams in the nation, with all five golfers ranked inside the Top-170. Led by potential four-time All-American Ashley Menne, ASU has recorded several impressive finishes during the 2023-24 season. Menne has emerged into one of the best golfers in the country under the tutelage of Farr-Kaye. She is in the midst of one of the most successful careers in program history and is ready to make her third NCAA Championship appearance.

ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
Sun Devil Women's Golf senior Ashley Menne has received Honorable Mention All-American distinction, the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Menne was one of only 26 female collegiate golfers at the Division I level to earn this prestigious honor. This is her third time earning Honorable Mention recognition, previously being awarded a spot on the team following the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Both the coaches and media agree that Menne is an All-American. After being named a Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) earlier in the offseason, the leading national collegiate golf publication Golfweek has also tabbed her as a Honorable Mention All-American.

FOUR-TIME ALL-AMERICAN
By virtue of her selection to the WGCA All-American Honorable Mention Team, Ashley Menne has now been named an All-American in each of her four seasons in Tempe. She becomes the first Sun Devil since Olivia Mehaffey (2017-21) to earn All-American honors in all four years. Menne joins some exclusive company by earning a fourth All-American distinction. She is only the fourth four-time All-American in program history. Only legendary figures Olivia Mehaffey, Azahara Munoz (2006-09) and Kellee Booth (1995-98) have accomplished this impressive feat.

PAC-12 ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS
Two Sun Devils added another impressive accolade as the Pac-12 announced the 2024 All-Conference teams - voted on by the coaches of the league - following the conclusion of the Pac-12 Championship. Senior Ashley Menne was one of 12 golfers to land on the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team, the second consecutive year she has accomplished the feat. Redshirt Freshman Patience Rhodes received Honorable Mention All-Conference distinction in her debut season in the Maroon & Gold. Here is a closer look at the All-Conference selections.

SUN DEVILS IN THE FINAL RANKINGS
Team Ranking - 15
Ashley Menne - 35
Patience Rhodes - 99
Beth Coulter - 120
Grace Summerhays - 140
Paula Schulz-Hanssen - 156

AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR
Senior Ashley Menne accepted an invitation to return to the Augusta National Women's Amateur. The 2023 edition once again gave female amateur golfers the opportunity to play the iconic Augusta National Golf Course. This was the second consecutive year Menne had qualified for this prestigious event, doing so based on her standing in the United States amateur rankings. It was her third overall appearance at the ANWA, as she continues to emerge as one of the top female amateurs in the World.

ELITE COMPANY
The Sun Devils are one of just eight Division I Women's Golf teams to earn a spot at NCAA Regionals every year for the past 30 seasons. Only traditional powers Arizona State, Arizona, Duke, Florida, Stanford, USC, UCLA and Wake Forest have qualified for a regional each time since the postseason format changed in 1993.Arizona State is one of only five schools to receive a Top-3 seed in each of the last four NCAA Regional selections. They are joined by only Wake Forest South Carolina, LSU, and USC in this exclusive group, an indicator of the consistent success of Coach Farr-Kaye's program.

A TRADITION LIKE NO OTHER
During the past five decades, many of the premier amateur women's golfers have called Arizona State University home. Arizona State won its NCAA-leading eighth national championship title in 2017 to reinforce its standing as the premier women's golf school in the United States. Under legendary Head Coach Linda Vollstedt, the program became the first in women's collegiate golf to win six championships in a decade (1990, '93, '94, '95, '97, '98). ASU remains the lone program to ever capture three national titles in a row (1993, '94, '95). The Sun Devil Golf programs did something in 1990 that had never been done before and hasn't been accomplished since. ASU swept both the Men's and Women's Team National Titles in 1990, becoming the first school to capture both championships in the same year.

HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL
Sun Devil Athletics was thrilled to extend four of its head coaches over the Christmas holiday, including Women's Golf Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye. Currently in her eighth year with ASU, Farr-Kaye has been extended through the 2027-28 athletic calendar. She completed the trifecta in 2017, becoming the first individual in NCAA history to win a National Championship as a player, assistant coach, and head coach at the same school.

THE BIRD
The Thunderbirds Golf Complex, designed by Douglas Fredrickson Architects and built by Rummel Construction Inc., is a 7,000-square foot facility featuring a grand entry lobby, national championship displays, a team gym and locker rooms for both men's and women's teams, a fueling station, study lounge, team lounge, indoor hitting bays and more. Designed by Sun Devil alumnus and five-time PGA Major Championships winner Phil Mickelson, who is known for his short-game expertise, the four-acre practice area consists of five practice greens, four practice bunkers and a three-acre fairway and rough designed to practice every possible golf shot. On Nov. 1, 2018, Papago Golf Course became the new home for Sun Devil Men's & Women's Golf with the unveiling of their new state-of-the-art practice facility -- The Thunderbirds Golf Complex -- through the generous commitment by The Thunderbirds organization. Arizona State, in partnership with The Thunderbirds, Arizona Golf Community Foundation, the City of Phoenix and Phil Mickelson Design, revitalized the course and helped build the Lou Grubb Clubhouse and Lou's Bar & Grill.
