CARLSBAD, Calif. - The Sun Devil Women's Golf season came to an end at the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, hosted at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
No. 15 Arizona State put forth a valiant effort, but ultimately fell one stroke short of making the Top-15 cut which would have allowed them to advance to the fourth round at the NCAA Championship. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team finished with an 890 over three rounds, placing them 16 out of 30 teams at the premiere collegiate event of the season. Although the Sun Devil season is over as a team, two members of the squad will play on thanks to their status as Top-9 individual qualifiers from non-advancing teams.
By virtue of finishing tied for 34th in a field of 156 golfers, both Ashley Menne and Patience Rhodes will compete for the individual national title in the final day of stroke play. The NCAA allows the Top-9 individuals in the final standings from non-advancing teams to continue their run at the NCAA Championship. Menne's round begins at 12:31 PM on Hole 10, with Rhodes following right behind at the same tee at 12:42 PM. Follow their final push to climb the individual standings and opportunity to play Omni La Costa North Course one final time by tracking live scores via Golfstat. GOLF Channel begins their live coverage of the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship tomorrow as they will be on air from 3-7 PM MST and will feature the individual national title race in addition to the match play cut.
Patience Rhodes delivered the best round of the day by a Sun Devil, playing nearly flawless golf when her team needed it the most. Rhodes recorded 17 pars on her way to carding a 73 (+1), with the lone blemish being a bogey on 15. Because of her efforts, Rhodes moved up 16 spots on the leaderboard and was No. 6 of the 9 non-advancing individual qualifiers. Rhodes was the most consistent golfer for ASU over the three days, never shooting higher than a 74 (+2). Menne will extend her decorated career by another round, as the three-time All-American will play in her 118 and final round as a Sun Devil tomorrow after claiming the last qualifying spot. A good round tomorrow could give Menne her 26th career Top-20 finish and the second of her career at a NCAA Championship (4th in 2021).

"We are really proud of this team," Coach Farr-Kaye remarked. "They really handled adversity. We didn't shoot the scores that we wanted today after struggling with the wind in a couple places."
"My message to them is how proud we are of them for overcoming some things that are very difficult," Coach Farr-Kaye reflected. "We are going to grow from this."
"We are launching Ashley (Menne) out into the World as a senior, but those other four are going to come back smarter and hungrier next year," Coach Farr-Kaye added. "We are already figuring out what that will look like."
"I'm just really grateful for these young ladies that have represented Arizona State so well this year," Coach Farr-Kaye concluded.

HISTORY AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sun Devil Women's Golf program is the most prestigious in the nation, taking home a NCAA record eight NCAA Championships. ASU won the National Championship in 1990, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2009, and 2017, dominating the women's collegiate golf scene for the last three decades. Nobody knew how to win at the NCAA Championship like legendary Head Coach Linda Vollstedt, who won five titles in nine years in the 1990's. The first came when current Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye was a player, starting the trifecta for Farr-Kaye. She later won as an Assistant Coach in 2009 and as a Head Coach in 2017, giving her three National Titles in three different roles. Since 2000, Arizona State has qualified for the NCAA Championship 21 times, one of only five programs who can make that claim (Stanford, Duke, USC, UCLA).
