CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Sun Devil Women's Golf Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye is on the Division I Jackie Steinmann National Coach of the Year Watch List, the WGCA announced.
Farr-Kaye has been identified as one of the top leaders having guided her alma mater to a No. 15 national ranking and two impressive tournament wins. She is in contention for her second coach of the year honor of her career, having been named the consensus 2017 National Coach of the Year by every publication after leading Arizona State to a National Championship. A Sun Devil Women's Golf Head Coach has won a National Coach of the Year award on six different occasions, with Linda Vollstedt responsible for four of those.
This season can be considered one of Farr-Kaye's best coaching jobs yet, as the team has yet to stop improving over the course of the year. Major strides have been made by every individual on the roster resulting in an extremely successful Spring campaign. No. 15 Arizona State has made the NCAA Championship for the 38th time, tying Stanford for the most in the nation. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye is looking to lead the program to a record ninth NCAA Title and her second at the helm in Tempe.
The Sun Devils were one of the deepest teams in the nation, with all five golfers ranked inside the Top-170. Led by potential four-time All-American Ashley Menne, ASU has recorded several impressive finishes during the 2023-24 season. Menne has emerged into one of the best golfers in the country under the tutelage of Farr-Kaye. She is in the midst of one of the most successful careers in program history and is ready to make her third NCAA Championship appearance.
"Coach has been a fantastic leader this year," Menne reflected. "She has been such a positive light in our lives. Her nomination for Coach of the Year is a reflection of the transformative impact she's had on our team, shaping not just our game, but our character."
A big reason why Arizona State is one of 30 teams to make the NCAA Championship is because of their depth. Junior Grace Summerhays has continued her emergence, proving to be one of the top upperclassmen in the conference. Sophomore Beth Coulter has saved her best for the biggest moments, coming through in clutch situations in her two-year Sun Devil career. Sophomore Paula Schulz-Hanssen has 10 Top-20 finishes in 23 career appearances. Redshirt freshman Patience Rhodes earned Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention distinction in her first season of competition. All five Sun Devils have thrived under the guidance of Farr-Kaye.
This is the second time that Farr-Kaye has been named to the WGCA National Coach of the Year Watch List, previously earning a spot in 2022. The award was established in 2018-19 to honor former UCLA Head Coach Jackie Steinmann and recognizes the best coach at the Division I Level. Farr-Kaye is one of only 24 coaches in the country to earn a spot on the exclusive list.

2024 NCAA WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP (Carslbad, CA - Omni La Costa Resort & Spa)
For the first time since 2019, the NCAA Women's Golf Championship will not be at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, as Arizona State's extremely successful three-year run as a host has come to an end. The 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship will take place near San Diego at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad from May 17-22. Now that they have advanced from a Regional, Sun Devil Women's Golf will attempt to win the program's NCAA record ninth national championship. Missy Farr-Kaye was in charge the last time that ASU won a title, defeating Northwestern at Rich Harvest Farms in Chicago for the 2017 NCAA Women's Golf Championship. The program also brought home NCAA titles in 2009, 1998, 1997, 1995, 1994, 1993, and 1990.

HISTORY AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sun Devil Women's Golf program is the most prestigious in the nation, taking home a NCAA record eight NCAA Championships. ASU won the National Championship in 1990, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2009, and 2017, dominating the women's collegiate golf scene for the last three decades. Nobody knew how to win at the NCAA Championship like legendary Head Coach Linda Vollstedt, who won five titles in nine years in the 1990's. The first came when current Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye was a player, starting the trifecta for Farr-Kaye. She later won as an Assistant Coach in 2009 and as a Head Coach in 2017, giving her three National Titles in three different roles. Since 2000, Arizona State has qualified for the NCAA Championship 21 times, one of only five programs who can make that claim (Stanford, Duke, USC, UCLA).
