PULLMAN, Wash. - Sun Devil Women's Golf showed major improvement on day two of the 2024 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship hosted at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
No. 12 Arizona State shot a 281 (-7), shaving 18 strokes off their score from yesterday. The Maroon & Gold (+4/580) claimed sole possession of fifth place through 36 holes and are within striking distance of moving up the team standings on the final day. Ashley Menne and Paula Schulz-Hanssen were big reasons for the turnaround, as they each fired 69s (-3) to climb up the leaderboard. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team finds themselves four strokes ahead of Arizona with one day remaining - as they attempt to secure the Territorial Cup Series point - awarded to the program who finishes highest at the Pac-12 Championship. The final round will begin at 8:00 AM MST for Arizona State, with a new golfer teeing-off every ten minutes on hole 1. Pac-12 Network will be providing coverage throughout the week, with a daily recap highlight show airing the morning after each round. QUOTABLES
"Today we had a much better day," Coach Farr-Kaye reflected. "There was some really good scoring out there, so it was hard to gain any ground despite shooting seven-under. The conditions were a lot better - still cold and windy - but about half as bad as it was yesterday."
"It was great to see Ashley come back and have a phenomenal round," Coach Farr-Kaye added. "Really happy to see Paula contribute with a 69. Great rounds from Grace and Beth as well."
"All around a better day," Coach Farr-Kaye mentioned. "The goal is to keep improving every day. We are just going to go out there and save our best for the last day. We want to put together a good round to finish up the last Pac-12 Championship."

HISTORY AT PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS
No team has enjoyed more success at the Pac-10/12 Women's Golf Championships than Arizona State. Their 13 individual champions are six more than any other team, while their eight team championships are tied for first. Most recently, Olivia Mehaffey claimed the 2019 Individual Championship by coming back from four strokes down on the final day. The Sun Devils last one as a team back in 2009 on their way to the program's seventh of eight NCAA Championships, with Coach Farr-Kaye serving as an Assistant Coach that year.
Legendary Sun Devil Women's Golf Head Coach Linda Vollstedt could be considered the queen of the Pac-10/12 Championships. Her teams won it a total of six times, including the first two in 1987 & 1988. Later in her career, Arizona State ran off four straight titles during their dominant run in the mid-90s, a feat that has never been matched since. ASU has three Top-3 finishes at the conference championships under Coach Farr-Kaye, finishing third in 2016, 2019, and 2021.
