FIVE TIME NATIONAL CHAMPION! TURNER GOES OUT ON TOP!FIVE TIME NATIONAL CHAMPION! TURNER GOES OUT ON TOP!

AUSTIN - The Sun Devil Track and Field men put on an absolute show to close out the men's portion of the NCAA Track and Field Championships. Tucson native Turner Washington won the discus in dramatic fashion, collecting his fifth total national title, second overall discus crown, and ninth All-America honor on the final throw of the event. Washington joins Ryan Whiting '10 as the only Sun Devil men to earn three outdoor titles. Jackie Johnson '08 is the most decorated Sun Devil with seven national titles across the heptathlon and pentathlon. Washington's big finish, three runners finishing on the 400m podium, the 4x100's fourth-place finish, and the 4x400's silver medal resulted in the ASU men finishing fifth overall with 41 points. The men haven't finished in the top-5 since 2010 when Greg Kraft steered the team to fourth with 79 points.

No. 3 4x400 in NCAA History and a new 4x100 Program Record
But wait, there's more! Washington's highs were far from the only highlights Friday night. ASU's 4x400 relay went to the wire with Florida to close out the night. UF took the title in 2:57.74, a new collegiate record, but ASU finished on their heels in 2:57.78, a 1.36 second program record that's unofficially No. 3 all-time in NCAA history and the second-fastest time in NCAA Championship meet history. In order, ASU's relay consisted of Dubem Nwachukwu, Jeremiah Curry, Jalen Drayden, Justin Robinson.

Earlier in the night, the 4x100 relay of Jalen Drayden, Jeremiah Curry, Trevin Moyer, and Justin Robinson ran 38.54 en route to their fourth-place finish. That set a new program record, besting the time they ran just two days earlier in the semifinals.

A Trio Reach the 400m Podium
The Maroon and Gold also celebrated all three of their 400m qualifiers reaching the podium. Justin Robinson's 44.51 was the No. 2 mark in ASU history and put him fourth, followed by Nwachukwu in fifth (44.92) and Gamali Felix in eighth (45.34). Florida was the only other school to place three on the 400m podium as well, with their runners earning fifth, second, and seventh.
