CORVALLIS, Oregon - Dam busted. Sun Devil Wrestling (6-4, 3-1 Pac-12) completed the weekend sweep Sunday night with a 23-16 victory over No. 20 Oregon State (6-6, 2-1 Pac-12) inside Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon, extending ASU's winning streak to four matches as a result. Unranked redshirt freshman Cael Valencia had another huge upset victory, this time topping No. 22 Mateo Olmos, while Michael McGee earned his 27th career tech fall and Cohlton Schultz picked up his seventh pin of the season. The Sun Devils move to 26-18 all-time against the Beavers and are on a seven-match winning streak.

Final Box Score

The Sun Devils have some time off before their next competition. ASU won't wrestle again until the final home dual on February 16 against CSU Bakersfield (Desert Financial Arena, noon). ASU will celebrate its graduating seniors that day as well. The Maroon and Gold then close out the dual season on February 19 with a road trip to Nebraska (2:00 p.m. AZ).

Of note
  • Valencia continues to make a name for himself. The second-year Sun Devil is riding a four match winning streak and is 5-2 in dual matches this season, including two wins in sudden victory in the past two weeks. On January 22nd he won Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week honors after upsetting Stanford's No. 23 Tyler Eischens (6-3).
  • Michael McGee is the king of tech falls. Both of his wins this weekend came via tech (17-1 vs Joshua Sarpy, 17-2 vs Jason Shaner) and he has four tech fall victories in his last six outings. The two-time All-American is 15-2 on the year and riding a seven match winning streak. McGee's 27 career tech falls are firmly second all-time at ASU behind Anthony Robles (47) and he's seventh all-time in bonus point wins with 63.
  • Cohlton Schultz' 23rd career pin cemented ASU's victory tonight. The match was 17-16 heading into the heavyweight matchup. Schultz is up to seven pins this season and had eight last season. He officially ties for 20th in the ASU records for career pins after today's result.
