TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 10 Arizona State women's water polo team kicked off the 2020 season with two wins, going 2-0 against the Ottawa University of Arizona Spirit (0-8) Saturday at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
Every one of the Sun Devil field players scored at least once over the course of the two matches.
GAME ONE: #10 Arizona State 20, Ottawa University of Arizona 3
ASU surged out to a dominant start, outscoring the Spirit 6-0 in the first quarter and entering the second half with an 11-1 lead.
Nine different Sun Devils got on the board, with five players recording multiple goals in the match. Kekesi led the pack with six goals and added two steals and an assist. Freshmen Savannah Hampton, Eszter Kiss, Alison Cameron and Olivia Traxler as well as junior transfer Emma Fraser all recorder their first career goals as members of the program.
Freshmen goalkeeper Itzahiana Baca had an impressive debut in the cage, notching 9 saves in the match.
The win was the Sun Devils' largest margin of victory since March 12, 2016 vs. Redlands (24-1) and tied for their fourth largest in program history. The team's 20 goals tied the program's fifth-highest scoring effort of all time and third highest at home.

The Sun Devils continued their impressive day with another high-scoring affair in the second match. This time around, they were led by Fraser, who totaled five goals in the match. Two more Devils got hat tricks as Kekesi and Cameron notched three each, while Cameron added two assists and two steals.
ASU changed it up in the cage, this time playing Belen Ehinger at goalkeeper. Ehinger recorded eight saves in the match.
The team shared the ball well yet again, recording assists on 12 of their 19 goals.
