TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 10 Arizona State women's water polo team went 2-0 on Sunday to finish 4-1 in the 2020 Cross-Conference Challenge and improve to 6-1 on the season. ASU opened the day with a 18-5 win over Sonoma State (2-5) before finishing the weekend with a 9-5 win over No. 15 Princeton (2-2).
Seven Sun Devils had career highs in at least one statistical category between the two games. Through the first seven games of the season, ASU has outscoring their opponents 96-36.
Game 1: No. 10 Arizona State 18, Sonoma State 5
In the first game of the day, the Sun Devils scored 10 goals before Sonoma State found the back of the cage for the first time late in the second quarter.
Borbala Kekesi and Meghan Beaudet led the team with four goals each, a career high for Beaudet. Alison Cameron tied career highs in goals scored (3) and steals (2) while adding two assists in the contest. Kate Cassidy put in two more goals, her first game scoring multiple.
On the defensive end, Savannah Hampton and Eszter Kiss each grabbed three steals. It was a career high for Hampton. Along with Cameron, Blaire McDowell and Olivia Traxler recorded two each as well. The 14 total steals were a season high for the Devils.
Backup goalkeeper Belen Ehinger, making her third appearance of the season, recorded seven saves in three quarters.

ASU finished up the weekend Saturday afternoon with the win over Princeton. The Sun Devils held the Tigers to just 15 over percent shooting, as they netted five of their 33 shots.
In the second match, once again led the scoring effort with three goals, followed by Amira Van Buren and Alison Cameron with two each.
Goalkeeper Itzahiana Baca spearheaded the strong defensive effort with 16 saves, the second-most by a true freshman in program history. Eszter Kiss recorded a career high four saves and Blaire McDowell added two more.
