SEATTLE – With stellar defense, Arizona State volleyball gave No. 10 Washington a good battle but fell in four sets (20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-22) at Alaska Airlines Arena on Friday night.

The Sun Devils kept it close with the top-10 team, taking their first lead with a kill from Claire Kovensky to make it 7-6. UW would take back the lead at 17-16, but ASU scored three in a row to go up by two, 19-17. Two kills in a row from Burse capped off another 3-0 run for the Sun Devils, pushing the advantage to 22-19. Arizona State won the set 25-20 after scoring three in a row, aided by two errors from the home team.
Set Two: Washington 25, Arizona State 20
Washington responded early in the with three in a row to go up 6-4. However, Arizona State got back in it, eventually taking the 12-11 lead after a kill from Kovensky. A few extraordinary saves from the Sun Devil defense led them to win the rally and get back up by one, 16-15. However, the Huskies scored five in a row late to take the set, 25-20.
Set Three: Washington 25, Arizona State 21
To start the third set, ASU was on fire. The Sun Devils had a 6-2 run that saw three kills from Boyd to go up 8-4. The Dawgs fought back into it, going on a 6-1 run to take the 15-12 lead. Arizona State rallied together to score six in a row and take the 21-20 lead, highlighted by two solo blocks from Megan Beedie. However, the Huskies responded with five-straight points to win, 25-21.
Set Four: Washington 25, Arizona State 22
The fourth set was close from the start. A solo block from Kovensky put ASU up by one, 5-4, after a 3-0 run. After Washington took the lead, three errors in a row from the home squad gave Arizona State the lead back, 13-12. After a 4-0 run for the Huskies to get back the lead, the Sun Devils were able to tie it up with a kill by Andrea Mitrovic at 19-19. ASU held off two match points, but UW completed the win, 25-22.

- Arizona State (10-8, 2-5) took the first set from Washington (14-3, 5-2). The Huskies had 12.0 blocks in the win, compared to the Sun Devils' 5.0.
