FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Sun Devil track and field program wrapped up their final regular season indoor meet at the NAU Tune-Up on Friday.

With 30-plus student-athletes, the squad was a mixed bag of first-time competitors in the track and field season and others attempting to improve their previous marks.

"When we come up here, it's really a chance for people to get additional reps," said head coach Greg Kraft. "Traditionally, we bring athletes up to jump at bars in the high jump and pole vault. We had a number of people who were dinged up and missed training time, so this also helped allow them to get some additional practice. It's an opportunity to compete and get another competition under our belt."

Newcomer Paul Lucas ran in his second-ever collegiate track and field event, which is also his second as a Sun Devil. In his primary event – the 60-meter dash – Lucas clocked a 6.90 for the fourth-best collegiate time in the event.

His teammate and fellow sprinter Brandon Hasson earned a new personal best in both the 60-meter dash and his primary 200-meter dash. The sophomore finished right on the heels of Lucas with a 6.94 for the fifth-best collegiate time on the day. Hasson also placed second in the 200 with a new best of 21.53.

In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Kaodolichi "Odi" Nwuda moved into the ASU top-10 all-time list in just his second-ever event as a Sun Devil with a time of 8.87. He just edged out his current teammate Richard Thiel for the 10th-best time.

Two women also competed in their first-ever track and field events in the maroon and gold. Freshman Alexis Nichols ran in the 1-mile event with a time of 5:17.19 for second place, while redshirt freshman Carissa Diaz placed ninth with a time of 2:26.42. For the men, rookie Kyle Shinn also ran in his first collegiate track and field event, clocking a time of 4:44.02 in the 1-mile run.

On the runway, junior Shaunie Morrison leapt to a new indoor personal best and first-place finish in the long jump at 5.84m (19-2.00). Her teammates, sophomore Jessica Barreira and senior Keyasia Tibbs, also hit new indoor personal bests at 5.81 and 5.80, respectively. They finished third and fourth, respectively, as well.

Tibbs and her jumping teammate Darreyl Woodson didn't hit personal bests in the triple jump, but finished in second and third, respectively.

In the field, redshirt freshman Michael TItherington competed in both the shot put and the weight throw. He tossed a new personal best in the former at 16.58m (54-4.75) for a second-place finish.
