TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's soccer team blanked Grand Canyon University, 6-0, in an exhibition game played Friday night at the Sun Devils Soccer Stadium.
Freshman Holly Cohen had an impressive debut notching two goals. The first in the 28th minute on a 30-yard loft shot and the second in the 60th minute, a header, off a Jill Rivard corner kick. All-American Stacy Tullock recorded three points with a 15-yard goal, in the 85th minute, that hit the crossbar and an assist on the first goal of the game, a 10-yard blast by Jennifer Peterson in the 11th minute. Jaclyn Clark and Sarah Blaska also added goals for the Sun Devils in the 59th minute and 69th minute, respectively. Clark knocked in a Kim Wagner corner kick and Blaska nailed a line drive from 20-yards out.
ASU received outstanding efforts from all three of its goalkeepers. Erin Reinke stopped five shots, while Kristin Slater and Tara Girodo each contributed with one save. Grand Canyon proved to be outmatched as ASU outshot the Antelopes 27-7. Sou Moussa of Grand Canyon, who had two shots on goal, received a yellow card in the 78th minute for unsportsmanlike conduct.
