Nicole Peterson was named the volunteer assistant coach in August 2020 after her successful four-year career playing for the Sun Devils.
Peterson contributed in each of her four seasons at ASU, primarily playing setter. She successionally saw time as a pin hitter as well. In 2017 and 2018 she led the team in assists, and in 2016 and 2019 she was second on the team in assists. Additionally, she earned many double-doubles throughout her career, including 10 in 2018, a team high. She earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2018.
In 2020, Peterson graduated from Arizona State with a bachelor of arts in fashion with a focus on technology.
Prior to ASU, Peterson played volleyball and tennis in Portland, Oregon at Jesuit High School. She earned numerous accolades: 2015 Max Preps National Player of the Year, 2015 High School All-American and 2015 Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year. In both 2015 and 2014, she was named the Oregon Player of the Year, Metro League Player of the Year and State Championship MVP. She led her team to state titles in 2012, 2014 and 2015.
Peterson's parents are Rob and Carolina Peterson, and she has two older brothers, Bruno and Lucas, and one older sister, Marta.
