TEMPE, Ariz. – As the fall 2020 semester wraps up and Arizona State University celebrates virtual fall graduations, 28 student-athletes now join the Sun Devil Alumni family. Of the graduates, three returned to complete their degree, nine graduated in less than four years, and eight graduated with honors.
There are 14 sports with student-athletes that earned degrees, with many earning various honors. Among those graduating with honors, three are Magna Cum Laude: Kendall Dawson (swimming and diving), Nathan Ponwith (men's tennis) and Turner Washington (track and field). There were also five Cum Laude: Taylor Carson (lacrosse), Shelbie Dobmeier (volleyball), Jackson Etter (swimming and diving), Daangoiina Haven (track and field) and Cortney Jones (track and field).
Of the nine Sun Devils who graduated in less than four years, three were from football, two from soccer, one from men's basketball, men's golf, swimming and diving, and track and field. Three Sun Devils returned to ASU to finish their degrees: Darin Gillies and Seth Martinez with baseball and Doug Allen with football.
Caitlyn Wilson from swimming and diving is a Tip of the Fork graduate this fall. This program encourages high-performing Sun Devil student-athletes to redefine their standard of excellence by providing them with experiences and education to become transformative leaders in their community.
