Kyla Roy took over as the assistant coach for Sun Devil triathlon at the start of the 2023 season. Roy returned to Arizona State, where she was a member of the team from 2017-22.
During her Sun Devil career, Roy helped the program win four national championships, including her undefeated season and the individual national championship in 2019. Roy was named a First Team All-American Honoree all five years at ASU. She was also named a Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll Honoree and received the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in 2021.
Roy began triathlon and swimming at the age of five and transitioned to triathlon competitively at 13. She won the 2015 Canada Junior Triathlon National Championship and Edmonton CAMTRI Triathlon Junior American Cup. Roy was the 2019 Canada Under-23 National Champion after finishing first at the Canadian Sprint Triathlon National Championships.
Prior to becoming the assistant coach, Roy was a volunteer assistant with the Sun Devils. She has been working with the provincial team as a mentor and coach for the younger athletes in her hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, since 2017.
