Born in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada to Richard Sim and Deni MiKinney. Has two sisters. Is a freshman majoring in exercise and wellness.
- Graduated from Second Arm Secondary in Canada in 2016
- Finished in the top-10 at all four BC High School Cross Country Championships, including a first place finish in 2013
- Was the 2014 BC High School track and field steeplechase champion
- Represented Canada in the steeplechase at the 2015 World Youth Championships
