Scott Pinckney Earns First-Team Men's Golf Pac-10 Honors In Final Season

TEMPE- Arizona State University senior golfer Scott Pinckney earned All-Pac-10 First Team honors in his final season as a Sun Devil and junior Philip Francis was named an Honorable Mention, the conference announced.

 

Pinckney leads the team with a 71.84 scoring average and has collected a career-high five top-10 finishes. He placed in the top-10 in four consecutive tournaments to begin the spring season; tied for sixth at the Ameri Ari Invitational, tied for 10th at The Battle at the Beach, took second at the USC Collegiate Invitational and tied for ninth at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters. He was named a Pac-10 Honorable Mention in 2010.

 

Francis was one of three golfers selected as an Honorable Mention. Francis, playing in his first season at ASU after transferring from UCLA, placed in the top 10 three times this year. He took sixth at the Topy Cup, seventh at The Battle at the Beach and tied for ninth at the Western Intercollegiate. His 72.65 scoring average ranks second on the team and his total rounds player (31) is the third highest.

 

Patrick Cantlay of UCLA was named both Pac-10 Men's Golfer of the Year and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, while Bruin coach Derek Freeman was tabbed as Pac-10 Coach of the Year.

 

The Pac-10 golf awards and the All-Pac-10 Teams are voted on by the conference's head golf coaches.
