OFF THE TEE: A third-team Golfweek preseason All-American this season. Entered Tempe last year as one of the most heralded incoming recruits in Randy Lein's 14-years as ASU head coach and showed why. Earned honorable mention All-American honors with a 72.50 stroke average and came on strong with three of his final seven rounds in the 60s, as he was 6-under in his final seven rounds. He graduated in November of 2003 and then sat out the next 18 months and entered ASU as a 19-year old freshman in the summer of 2005. Regarded in Chile as one of the best amateur golfers in nation's history. Randy Lein said he is one of the best young players he has ever recruited and watched in his career.
2005-06: Put together one of the better freshmen seasons in ASU golf history with a 72.50 stroke average...shot season-best (69) in three of his final seven rounds, including back-to-back rounds at the NCAA West Regional when he finished at 6-under 210 and tied for 22nd...most convincing outing was at the tough Southern Highlands Championship in Las Vegas when he finished tied for seventh with a 5-over 221 (77-71-73)...had five top-20 finishes.
ABOUT THAT FRESHMAN SEASON: Benjamin Alvarado Holley's freshman season was one of the best in ASU history. His 72.50 stroke average in 10 tournaments ranks as the fifth-best in ASU history and the second-best in the past eight seasons, behind only 2003 NCAA champion Alejandro Canizares (71.65) and 1998 Pac-10 champion Paul Casey (72.30). To put it in perspective, the five players behind him on the freshmen list are 2000 U.S. Amateur champion Jeff Quinney, 2001 U.S. Public Links champion Chez Reavie, current All-American Niklas Lemke, two-time All-American Matt Jones and eight-time collegiate winner and PGA tour standout Billy Mayfair.

PREP AND JUNIOR CAREER: Competed in golf at the Athletic Study Center in Santiago and earned numerous honors and accolades in his junior career...won the South American Championship in 2003, was fifth at the 2004 World Team Championship and was the Orange Bowl champion in 2002...second at the Junior World Championships in 2002...won the Chile Open in 2003.
