Ty Abbott Earns The Final Pac-10 Player Of The Week Award

March 7, 2011

ASU senior Ty Abbott scored 22 points in each contest over the weekend as ASU swept its final home games of the year over Oregon (73-53 on March 3) and Oregon State (80-66 o March 5), and that has earned him Pac-10 Player of the Week honors for the third time in his career.

He joins Eddie House (five times), Ike Diogu (four), Mario Bennett (three) and James Harden (three) as Sun Devils to win the award on multiple occasions.

Against Oregon, Abbott was 7-of-14 from the field and 6-of-12 from the three-point stripe in 38 minutes and notched five assists and four steals. Two days later against the Beavers, Abbott was 8-of-18 from the field, 6-of-14 from the three-point stripe and had five assists, four boards and four rebounds.

In his Sun Devil career of 129 games and 118 starts, he has played 3,985 minutes and averaged 30.9 minutes per game. He has 273 three-pointers and passed the 500-rebound mark as he now has 501. He has notched 1,330 career points (10.3 per game), 15th on the Sun Devil career charts.

With 15 minutes vs. Oregon in Wednesday's Pac-10 Tournament game he will become just the second Sun Devil to play 4,000 minutes in a career. Eddie House is the ASU career leader with 4,164.
