Men's Golf Stands Tied for 11th Following First Round of NCAA Championships

SUNRIVER, Ore. - The first day of action at the 109th NCAA Golf Championships came to a close Wednesday evening with the Arizona State University men's golf team shooting 1-under (287) to place it in a tie with Minnesota for 11th in the team standings following the opening round of play at the Crosswater Club Course (par 72, 7,630 yards) in Sunriver, Ore. The Sun Devils are 10 strokes off the pace of leader Wake Forest, who shot an 11-under (277) in the morning session.

The Sun Devils were led individually by Niklas Lemke (Linkoping, Sweden), who fired a 2-under 70 to finish the first round in a tie for 15th. He was joined in the red numbers by Lenny Park (Sochko, Korea), who stands tied for 28th following a 1-under 71. Alejandro Canizares (Manilva, Spain) and Benjamin Alvarado Holley (Santiago, Chile) each completed the first round with scores of 1-over (73) while Phil Telliard (Riverside, Calif.) rounded out the Sun Devil representatives with a 3-over 75 on day one.

Arizona State, which is making its 44th appearance at the national tournament, continues play Thursday morning with the Sun Devils starting at 7:50 a.m. from the 10th tee.
