Palm Desert, Calif. - After the first day of Pac-10 Championship play, the Arizona State University men's golf team is sitting in fifth place with a 17-over 727. ASU played 36 holes after teeing off at 7:30 a.m. PST at The Canyons Course at Bighorn Golf Club (par-71, 7,009 yards) in Palm Desert, Calif. ASU was one of four teams to complete the second round after play was suspended due to darkness.
UCLA, who has also completed two rounds, currently holds the top spot at 13-under with a 697. UCLA's Daniel Ihm is also in first place after shooting a 7-under 135.
Individually, Sun Devil Niklas Lemke leads ASU with a 5-under 135 to hold the number three spot. Senior Alejandro Canizares is tied for 14th after shooting a 2-over 144. Senior Lenny Park and freshman Benjamin Alvarado Holley are tied for 33 after shooting a 5-over 147. Phil Telliard carded a 10-over 152 to tie for 48th. Rounding out the Sun Devils is freshman Erik Coover, who shot a 20-over 162.
The Pac-10 Championship counts the low five scores from the six-man teams.
The Pac-10 Championship continues April 25-26, with single round play for a total of four rounds for the tournament.
ASU is looking to win their eighth Pac-10 Championship under head coach Randy Lein.
