TEMPE – Sun Devil Lacrosse senior Anna Viglione is set to play on the world’s stage, playing for England at the Women's World Lacrosse Championships starting Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.
Team England is in pool C and plays its opening match against Puerto Rico at 3:30 p.m. JST, Saturday (11:30 p.m. MST Friday), then will face Scotland on Monday, July 27 at 3:30 p.m. (11:30 p.m. Sunday), England will wrap up group play the following day against Argentina at 9 a.m. (4 p.m., Monday)
Viglione is the first Sun Devil in program history to compete at senior worlds after coming off a successful junior campaign that was highlighted by a number of accolades, most notably, being the first player in program history named as an IWLCA All-American by earning a spot on the second team.
Additionally, Viglione was named Big 12 Draw Specialist of the Year and drew national recognition earning an honorable mention All-American nod by IL Women and second team draw specialist honors by USA Lacrosse.

The England Senior Women’s Lacrosse team is ranked third in the world and earned a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships. The team are the reigning European champions in 2024, winning their fourth straight title.
The quarterfinals of the World Lacrosse Championships is set to begin on Wednesday, July 29 through August 2 with the gold and bronze medal matches taking place.
Viglione, a four-year Sun Devil set a program single-season record with 218 draw controls which led the NCAA. She averaged an NCAA best 12.11 draw controls per game and had 10 games with double-digit draw controls, in 18 games. Viglione was named to the Tewaaration Watchlist, becoming the program's first watch list recognition and became the first Sun devil with 400+ career draw controls.
