GREENWOOD, Ind. – Graduate Vivian Ovrootsky was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American for the 2025-26 season, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
It’s the first career CSC Academic All-America honor for Ovrootsky, landing on the Third Team while maintaining a 3.93 cumulative GPA, while earning a master’s degree in Business Administration. The San Jose, California, native has been a model of academic and athletic excellence throughout her collegiate career, earning three CSC Academic All-District recognitions and three ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
On the court this spring, Ovrootsky went 19-1 in dual matches and went 18-0 in the regular season. Her 31 wins in singles ranked tied for the third most in program history in a season, in addition to being named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and tabbed on the All-Big 12 First Team in singles. Her exceptional play helped lead the Sun Devils to a share of the Big 12 regular season conference title, winning 20 matches in a season for the first time since 2001.
Ovrootsky is the fifth Sun Devil in program history to be named a CSC Academic All-American and the first since Domenika Turkovic and Marianna Argyrokastriti in 2023.
Academic All-America honors are reserved for college students who excel in their respective sport as well as in their academics. Each student-athlete nominee must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
Nominees then have the chance to advance to the next round, where they are sent through to the Academic All-America sub-committee team, before being put forth for Academic All-America consideration, where only those with the highest academic and athletic credentials will advance.
