TUCSON – Sun Devil Track and Field wrapped up the Desert Heat Saturday night at Drachman Stadium as senior Dayton Carlson rewrote his own school record in the men’s 800m with a time of 1:45.26.
After previously setting the men’s 800m school record of 1:45.57 on March 29, Carlson added yet another new page of history with an 800m mark of 1:45.26 to now give him the program’s two fastest outdoor 800m times.

The women’s squad was led by Junior Jessica Viera Chaparro, who tallied an 18:57.15 time to take home first place in the women’s 5000 meter event for her first event win in the Maroon and Gold while the women’s 4x400m relay squad consisting of Ashantai Bollers, Alexia Schofield, Naiya Morgan, and Taylor Brown took fifth place with a time of 3:42.17.
Three Sun Devils recorded personal bests across multiple events. In the men’s hammer throw, sophomore Charlie Merritt saw a 58.26m (191-01) result. Freshman Brady Nieto saw a strong time of 4:00.08 in the men’s 1500m race. On the women’s side, freshman Jade Allen ran an impressive 1500m, with a 4:49.87 mark.
Arizona State will be out of action for a week before opening postseason competition with the Big 12 Outdoor Championships from May 14-16 in Tucson.
