SAN JOSE, Calif. – No. 5 Sun Devil Water Polo (19-2, 1-1) secured its first MPSF conference victory of the season with a 21-7 win over No. 16 San Jose State (5-8, 0-2) on Sunday afternoon in San Jose, Calif.
Arizona State controlled the game from start to finish, building its lead with each passing quarter. The 21-goal performance marked the seventh time this season the Sun Devils have scored 20+ points in a game, and wasthe first time doing so in conference play.
Freshman center Lulu Gaetano dominated in the middle, recording four goals on four shots, pushing her season total to 10 goals. Freshman attacker Laura Kardos added two goals and two assists for rack up four points in the win.
Senior attacker Millie Quin and freshman attacker Maci Magee each recorded hat tricks in the victory. Quin is just 10 goals away from becoming the Sun Devils' all-time leading goal scorer.
