TEMPE – Sun Devil Wrestling came up short in the 22-17 loss to No. 19 Missouri on Thursday night at Desert Financial Arena.

The dual was highlighted by an impressive match from Arizona State redshirt freshman and 141-pounder Pierson Manville, who put on a takedown clinic en route to his team-best sixth technical fall win of the season (21-5 / 5:19).

Nicco Ruiz (165 lb.) opened up tonight’s dual with a win by decision against James Conway. Ruiz landed a pair of takedowns to complement a well-rounded effort, improving to 14-3 on the season. The redshirt sophomore has now won 10 of his last 11 matchups since Nov. 23, 2025.

The Larkin brothers once again both came out on top with a pair of decision victories. Freshman No. 5 Kyler Larkin (133 lb.) kept his poise throughout the match, delivering a 9-3 decision over Gage Walker. Redshirt sophomore No. 2 Kaleb Larkin (157 lb.) battled from buzzer-to-buzzer against No. 15 Teague Travis, ultimately getting a third-period takedown to solidify a 5-1 decision over the ranked Tiger.

Graduate heavyweight David Szuba took home a 7-3 decision in a top-25 bout against No. 25 Jarrett Stoner. Szuba’s season record now stands at 11-8 as the Sun Devil anchor earned his 80th career win between his time at Rider and ASU. 

The Sun Devils will have a quick turnaround as the team is set to hit the road and take on Big 12 foe Northern Colorado. The match is slated for Sunday, Jan. 18 and is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. MST. Live streaming will be available via Flo.TV.
