2025-26 Sun Devils make history
On Dec. 6, 2025, this year’s Sun Devil squad broke a 33-year-old record after it defeated San Francisco 67-44. By starting the season 10-0, the 2025-26 Sun Devils established a new program standard for most consecutive wins to start a season. The current cast of Sun Devils eclipsed the record held by the 1992-93 team (9-0), coached by current Sun Devil radio analyst Maura McHugh.
In good company
As of games played through Dec. 11, ASU was one of 12 teams in the nation with an unbeaten record. Of those 12 teams, ASU was one of four Big 12 teams, joining Iowa State, TCU and Texas Tech.

- Has won her last 31 home games going back to the 2023-24 season when she was the head coach at GCU.
- Won her 300th game as an NCAA head coach on Nov. 13, 2025.
- Miller’s first Sun Devil squad set a new standard for the best start in program history (10-0) after ASU defeated San Francisco on Dec. 6.
State of play
ASU’s three road games to close out its non-conference slate follows a span in which it played eight of its first 10 games at home, including six in a row before playing at Penn State on Dec. 9. The contest at Penn State was ASU’s first road game since it concluded a two-game road trip at Santa Clara (W, 82-77). ASU started that trip with a 79-47 win at San Diego (Nov. 13).
Hello again
ASU vs. OSU was one of the Pac-12’s most prominent rivalries – must-see TV – between 2014-2020. In nine of the 13 games during that stretch the outcome was decided by single digits, including ASU’s 79-76 2OT win in Corvallis on Jan. 20, 2019, a contest in which Kianna Ibis scored 21 of her season-high 28 points in the second half and overtime. In the last two meetings the winning team put on a dominant performance on its home floor. In the final Pac-12 meeting (Jan 2024), OSU won 92-55. ASU returned the favor last November with a 79-60 win in Tempe.

#HailMarley
Anyone who saw what turned out to be the game-winning 3-pointer made by Marley Washenitz in the Sun Devil women’s basketball team’s 56-53 win over UNLV on Nov. 22 – and is old enough to remember – might just have harkened back to the commercials of the early 90s that featured basketball Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Larry Bird challenging each other over and over again to make improbable shots, something like a game of H-O-R-S-E.
What shot would Washenitz have challenged her opponent to make on that Saturday? This is what came to be known as the #HailMarley: With only seconds remaining in the game, the shot clock about to expire, with her back to the basket, save the ball before it rolls out of bounds and – in the same motion – turn around and fling a left-handed 3-pointer off the glass. For Washenitz, who came into the game having scored in double figures in each of ASU’s first four games of the season, the improvisational shot was the first – and only – of her seven field goal attempts of the game that resulted in points.
