Fall season
Sahalee Players Invitational – Sept. 6-7 (Redmond, WA | Sahalee Country Club)
Arizona State will return to Sahalee Players Invitational for the second consecutive year. They look to repeat what happened a year ago at this event. The 2024-25 team started strong and never looked back in winning the team championship last season. ASU shot 7-under 857 (282-284-291) in securing the title, topping Florida by 11 strokes, who shot 4-over 868 (300-283-285).

ASU was led by its top-10 WAGR ranked seniors, as Josele Ballester -- the 2024 U.S. Amateur champion -- had a 3-under 213 (69-72-72) as did Preston Summerhays (71-68-74), and both tied for second. It marked the ninth top-five finish in Ballester's collegiate career. Michael Mjaaseth, Connor Williams, and Peer Wernicke will play Sahalee Country Club for the second time.

In the field (11 Teams): Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, Northwestern, Oregon, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Texas, UCLA, Washington (host)

Wohali Classic – Sept. 15-16 (Coalville, UT | Wohali Golf Club)
For the first time, Arizona State will participate in the newly-formed Wohali Classic. Hosted by Utah, the Wohali Classic will take place at brand-new Wohali Golf Club, located just outside of Park City. It will represent somewhat of a homecoming for two Sun Devil freshman. Both Bowen Mauss (Draper) and Boston Bracken (St. George) are from the Beehive State.

In the field (14 Teams): BYU, Cal Poly, Colorado State, Georgia Southern, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oregon State, San Diego, San Diego State, Tarleton, UCLA, UNLV, Utah (host)

Fighting Illini Invitational – Sept. 19-20 (Chicago, IL | Olympia Fields Country Club)
Arizona State will be in a familiar place for their next tournament, making their fifth-straight appearance in the Fighting Illini Invitational. 2024 U.S.

Amateur champion Josele Ballester checked another box - securing his first collegiate win in strong fashion - at the 18th annual Olympia Fields Illini Invitational a season ago. Ballester matched the tournament record with a 10-under 200 (64-66-70). He became the Sun Devils' second medalist at the event, and the first since Niklas Lemke won the inaugural tournament in 2006. His final score of 200 (-10) also tied the event record set by Alabama's Davis Riley in 2017. It marked his eighth top-five finish. Georgia Tech took the team title with a 12-under 828 (279-277-272), topping ASU by one stroke as the Sun Devils shot 11-under 829 (273-276-280).

In the field (15 Teams): Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois (host), Indiana, Loyola Marymount, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech

Ben Hogan Collegiate – Sept. 29-30 (Fort Worth, TX | Colonial Country Club)
The Sun Devils will be comfortable in yet another setting when they compete at the Ben Hogan Collegiate. They will make their fourth-consecutive appearance in the event hosted by TCU. A season ago, ASU finished in fifth place led by Connor Williams' (T8th) Top-10 finish. Prior to that, ASU secured back-to-back third place finishes in their first two times competing in the event.

In the field (15 Teams): Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Stanford, TCU (host), Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Virginia

East Lake Cup - Oct. 27-29 (Atlanta, GA | East Lake Golf Club)
The most prestigious Fall tournament includes Sun Devil Men's Golf. Hosted annually by GOLF Channel - who features the event on their network - the East Lake Cup brings four of the top men's and women's golf programs to iconic East Lake Golf Club. This year, the Sun Devils are one of the selections, joined only by Florida, Ole Miss, and Virginia. This will be a stiff test for Arizona State as they get to measure themselves against the other top teams in the nation. This is the programs first appearance at the East Lake Cup since 2022.

The East Lake Cup features a Stroke Play and Match Play portion. The last time ASU was at the East Lake Cup, they won the Stroke Play portion of the event and went 1-1 in Match Play, finishing second to Vanderbilt after falling in the championship match.

In the field (4 Teams): Florida, Ole Miss, Virginia

Spring Season
Copper Cup – January 19-20 (Laguna Niguel, CA | El Niguel Country Club)
The Copper Cup will make its return, this time being held in California. UCLA takes over as host of the event that was originally hosted by ASU and held at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The latest iteration of the event will take place at El Niguel Country Club in Southern California. It once again pits rival teams against each other in a two-day, match play style event. In 2024, ASU went 1-1 at this event, including a 8-3 victory over USC on the final day.

In the field (4 Teams): Arizona, UCLA (host), USC

The Amer Ari – Feb. 5-7 (Waikoloa, HI | Mauna Lani Golf Resort)
The largest field that Arizona State will face will be in Hawaii, when the Sun Devils participate in The Amer Ari. ASU returns to Hawaii for the seventh-straight year for The Amer Ari, hosted by the University of Hawaii-Hilo. The 2023 edition was cancelled due to weather. In 2021, Arizona State won the team championship led by David Puig. The Sun Devils earned their third event title, also accomplishing the feat in 2015 and 1995. ASU earned the team title by 12 strokes over USC at the Hapuna Golf Course held in Waimea.

Sophomore David Puig won the individual crown thanks to a 13-under 203 (67-68-68), topping teammate Blake Wagoner (63-71-73) and USC's Sixian Guo (68-68-71) who both shot 9-under 207.

Sun Devil Amer Ari individual titles (4)
David Puig, 2021
Todd Demsey, 1995
Chris Hanell, 1996
Jesper Kennegard, 2009

Wagoner was playing as an individual, so his score didn't count in the team score, but ASU got excellent play from Ryggs Johnston (8-under 208), Mason Andersen (6-under 210), Cameron Sisk (5-under 211) and Chun An Yu (3-under 313). No Sun Devil finished outside the top 14.

In the field (20 Teams): Auburn, Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Hawaii-Hilo (host), North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Osaka Gakuin, Pacific, Pepperdine, San Jose State, Stanford, Texas, Texas Tech, UC Davis, UCLA, UT Arlington, Washington

The Cabo Collegiate – March 1-3 (Cabo San Lucas, MX | Twin Dolphin Club)
Coach Thurmond takes his team South of the border for their next event, The Cabo Collegiate, hosted annually by Arkansas in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. A loaded field gets the benefits of staying at a luxury resort, Twin Dolphin Club, while competing in one of the nation's most competitive events. Arizona State is the two-time reigning Cabo Collegiate Team Champions and will look to defend their title once again.

The Sun Devil Men's Golf Team lead the 2025 tournament all three days and clinched the win at the Cabo Collegiate for the second year in a row. A 15-under 838 (276-279-288) gave the Maroon and Gold a five stroke cushion ahead of No. 6 Oklahoma State. Sophomore Fifa Laopakdee finished tied for first after an impressive 3-under performance complete with four birdies. He had the lowest scoring average on the par 4's out of the entire field for the duration of the tournament.

Michael Mjaaseth also finished in the top five with his 5-under 208 (68-68-72). The team had the lowest scoring average on the par 3's and 4's, the most pars (173) and the third most birdies (51) out of the 14 teams. The 14-team field included  seven top-25 teams, with Ole Miss (1), ASU (3), Oklahoma State (6), Vanderbilt (14), Arizona (17), Texas Tech (19) and Florida State (21) all competing.

In 2024, the Sun Devils won the 15-team Cabo Collegiate in convincing fashion. ASU won the tournament by nine strokes, and did it shooting 11-under 273 in the final round, as only two other teams were under par in the third round. Three Sun Devils finished in the top-10, led by Preston Summerhays who shot an 8-under 205 and finished third. Current senior Michael Mjaaseth tied for second in par-5 holes, shooting 7-under.

In the field (16 Teams): Arizona, Arkansas (host), Baylor, California, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Houston, Loyola University (MD), Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Rice, Stanford, Tennessee, UCSB, Vanderbilt

The Desimone Invitational – March 9-10 (San Francisco, CA)
An elite field makes up the first-ever Desimone Invitational, a new tournament named after California's former legendary men's golf coach. The inaugural event will take place March 9-10 at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City and features 15 teams – six of which qualified for last season's NCAA Championship.

Desimone coached the Golden Bears for 37 years, taking over a program that had lost varsity status in 1979 and getting it reinstated as an NCAA sport. By the time he retired following the 2015-16 season, Cal had become a sustained power and Desimone was a larger-than-life pillar of college golf, in Berkeley and beyond. His daughter, Kim Nelson (Desimone) was a long-time employee of Sun Devil Athletics.

In the field (15 Teams): Arizona, California (host), Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Jose State, SMU, TCU, Texas, UCLA, USC, Utah, Wake Forest, Washington, Washington State

Arizona Thunderbird – March 16-17 (Tucson, AZ | Tucson Country Club)
Arizona State competes in the state of Arizona for the first time when they head to the Arizona Thunderbird. The Sun Devils make their return to Tucson Country Club for the third time in four years. Freshman Wenyi Ding made his highly-anticipated debut and nearly pulled off the individual win the last time ASU appeared at this course. Ding finished at 17-under 199 (65-67-67) just behind BYU's Zac Jones who shot 18-under 198 (65-69-64).

The Sun Devils finished third at 49-under 815. The 49-under is third-best mark vs. par mark in the Golfstat era. Two of the top-five best scores vs. par in program history have come at this golf course.

Best vs. Par Three-Round Team Score (1993-94 - present)
-59/805, 2023 NCAA Regional, Las Vegas
-50/814, 2018 National Invitational
-49/815, 2024 National Invitational

In the field (13 Teams): Arizona (host), Colorado, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Pacific, UTEP, UTSA, Wyoming

Valspar Invitational – March 23-24 (West Palm Beach, FL | Floridian National Golf Club)
Arizona State has become a mainstay in the next event, having played in it every year since 2021. The Sun Devils will be making their sixth-straight appearance at the Valspar Invitational hosted by Houston. Coach Thurmond's team will look to build off a second-place finish at last year's event, their highest finish at the Valspar. Four Sun Devils return that played in the 2025 edition and will have experience playing the course.

In the field (10 Teams): Arkansas, Augusta, Duke, Florida State, Houston (host), Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Texas, Texas Tech

Maridoe Invitational – March 30-31 (Carrollton, TX | Maridoe Golf Club)
For the second consecutive year, the Sun Devils will compete at the Maridoe Invitational. It will be held at Maridoe Golf Club just outside of Dallas, which also hosted a LIV Golf Tour event in 2025. Men's Golf returned home with a third place finish with a 24-over finish total of 888 (288-294-306) In last season's event. Two returning Sun Devils had top-10 finishes, Michael Mjaaseth finished in fourth with an even score while Fifa Laopakdee finished tied for tenth at 4-over.

In the Field (12 Teams): Alabama, Baylor, Boston College, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, North Texas (host), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Sam Houston State, UNC Greensboro, UT Rio Grande Valley

Thunderbird Collegiate – Apr. 10-11 (Phoenix, AZ | Papago Golf Club)
Sun Devil Men's Golf gets a chance to play in front of their home fans for the first time when they host their annual Thunderbird Collegiate. It is the final event of the regular season. The ASU Thunderbird Collegiate has been in existence for 51 years, sixth-most in all of NCAA men's golf. Only San Jose State's Western Intercollegiate (78 years), Houston's Border Olympics (75), Little Three Championship (72 years hosted by Canisius), Stanford's The Goodwin (55) and the Furman Intercollegiate (54) have longer runs. It has happened every year since 1973 sans the COVID shortened 2020 athletic season.

Arizona State has won the last three team championships and a Sun Devil has won the last four individual titles. Returning Sun Devil Fifa Laopakdee won medalist honors via a playoff victory over New Mexico's Carson Herron after shooting a 201 (-12). ASU has won 22 Thunderbird Collegiate titles all-time, the most of any program. A Sun Devil has won the individual title 16 times, also the highest total of any school.

In the field (9 Teams): Colorado, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, New Mexico, Oregon State, San Diego, UCLA, Utah

Postseason
Big 12 Championship – April 27-29 (Hutchinson, KS | Prairie Dunes Country Club)
Arizona State will compete in their second Big 12 Championship with this one taking place at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Kansas. The Sun Devil Men's Golf team finished in second place with a 9-over 1129 (277-284-286-282) at their first appearance in the Big 12 Championship at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa in 2025. Connor WilliamsMichael Mjaaseth, and Josele Ballester all finished within the top five as individuals with Williams only two off the lead.

The Sun Devils know a thing or two about winning conference champions. No program won more team or individual championships in the Pac-10/12 than Sun Devil Men's Golf. That includes the 2024 team title, the final iteration for the league.

NCAA Regionals – May 19-21 (Athens, Georgia; Bermuda Run, North Carolina; Bryan, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; Corvallis, Oregon; Tucson, Arizona)
Arizona State has qualified for NCAA s 12 straight years and has appeared in 34 of a possible 35 regionals. If they do so again in 2026, they could be in line to stay in state, with Tucson representing one of six potential sites. The last time ASU played in Arizona for a regional was back in 2013 when the Sun Devils hosted the Tempe Regional.

A total of 72 teams are selected to the NCAA Regionals, with 12 teams making each regional. ASU would need to finish in the Top-5 of their regional to advance to the NCAA Championship. Here are the six regional locations:

  • Athens, Georgia; University of Georgia Golf Course
  • Bermuda Run, North Carolina; Bermuda Run Country Club
  • Bryan, Texas; Traditions Club
  • Columbus, Ohio; OSU Golf Club
  • Corvallis, Oregon; Trysting Tree Golf Club
  • Tucson, Arizona; The Gallery Golf Club

The Sun Devil Men's Golf program has claimed or shared a total of nine regional team championships, which is the third-most of any program (Oklahoma State, Texas).
