FEDERAL WAY, Wash.- It's been a dominant week for the Sun Devil men up in Federal Way. They've won 11 events throughout the first three days of competition as they are inching closer to back-to-back Pac-12 Championships.
Léon Marchand won his fourth championship of the week and the 14th of his career as he won the 400 IM at 3:34.66, a time that leads the nation. He has won the 400 IM individual title in each of his three years as a Sun Devil.
Next up was Ilya Kharun, who won the 100 fly, breaking his school record in the event with a time of 44.33. It is the third Pac-12 championship for the freshman already in his career. He is the first 100 fly conference champion for Arizona State since Eduardo Piccinini in 1983.
The third win of the night went to Patrick Sammon, who won his first individual championship in the 200 free, swimming a 1:31.87. Sammon's win in the 200 free was the sixth individual win of the week. The Sun Devils have now won championships in this event in each of the last three years.
The 10th win of the 2024 Pac-12 Championships went to Hubert Kós in the 100 back for his second title of the week. He swam a 43.75, which broke his school record set in this morning's prelims for the first conference title in the 100 back for ASU since 2020.
The 400 medley relay capped off the night as Kós-Marchand-Kharun-Kulow swam a time of 2:58.49– good for a meet and school record.
TEAM STANDINGS AFTER DAY 3
Four finished within the top six in the opening event of the evening, once again showing the depth the Sun Devils have.
David Schlicht made the podium for the eighth time in his collegiate career, placing second in the 400 IM. Zalan Sarkany (4th) and Daniel Matheson (6th) joined Marchand and Schlicht in the championship final. Jake Mason took 13th for the Sun Devils with Reece Grady (17th) rounding out the top-18.
Filip Senc-Samardzic finished fourth in the 100 fly with Jonny Kulow finishing fifth and Alex Colson taking sixth.
Owen McDonald had a podium finish in the 200 free, taking third for the Sun Devils. It was his third podium finish of the week. Julian Hill (4th) and Tiago Behar (7th) joined McDonald in the final.
Andy Dobrzanski was the highest finisher for the Sun Devils in the 100 breast, taking fourth. John Heaphy rounded out the top-10 with a ninth-place finish as the winner of the B final.
Jack Dolan took a second-place finish in the 100 back with teammate Jack Wadsworth (4th) rounding out the top-four.

MORNING PRELIMS
Friday's prelims set up for an exciting evening of finals for the Sun Devils, beginning with the 400 IM. Seven qualified for a final in that event, led by David Schlicht (1st), Léon Marchand (2nd), Zalan Sarkany (3rd), Cale Martter (4th) and Daniel Matheson (8th) all qualifying for the A final. Jake Mason (13th) qualified for the B final and Reece Grady and Dylan Gravley qualified for the C final.
In the 100 fly, five finished within the top-20 with Ilya Kharun (1st) leading the way along with Filip Senc-Samardzic (4th), Jonny Kulow (6th) and Alex Colson (8th) all qualifying for the A final and Jackson Schuster (19th) qualifying for the C final.
McDonald (1st) led the charge for the Sun Devils in the 200 free preliminaries followed by Julian Hill (2nd), Patrick Sammon (4th) and Tiago Behar (7th) all qualifying for the A final.
Andy Dobrzanski (2nd) and John Heaphy (12th) finished in the top-12 in the 100 breast preliminaries.
To cap off the morning prelims, Hubert Kós (1st) led the way in the 100 back prelims with Dolan (2nd) and Wadsworth (6th) finishing in the top-six.
