PAC-12 TOURNAMENT BRACKET
PAC-12 TOURNAMENT NOTES
- Sun Devil Men's Basketball made the semifinals of the 2023 Pac-12 Tournament, only the third time the program had accomplished the feat. No. 6 seed Arizona State clinched their spot in the final four thanks to a pair of victories over No. 11 seed Oregon State and No. 3 seed USC.
- The 2023 team joined the 2009 & 1990 team as the only three that won multiple games in one Pac-12 Tournament.
- ASU is 4-3 in its first Pac-12 Tournament game under Bobby Hurley after going 2-11 since the return of the tournament in 2002.
- Coach Hurley is looking to accomplish something never done at Arizona State before. Should the Sun Devils win their first round matchup, it would be the first time they have ever secured victories in consecutive years at the Pac-12 Tournament.* (*did so in 2019 & 2021, but '20 tournament canceled due to COVID).
- The Maroon & Gold have won at least one game at four of the past six tournaments after only accomplishing the feat once in the previous seven editions.
REGULAR SEASON SWEEP
Arizona State earned a pair of victories over Utah during the regular season. It was the second straight regular season sweep for the Sun Devils over the Utes, as ASU also won both matchups during the 2021-22 season. In total, Head Coach Bobby Hurley won five-straight and seven of the past eight overall in the series with the Utes.
The first meeting between the two sides took place back in January, as ASU came away with an impressive 82-70 victory at Desert Financial Arena. Frankie Collins led the way with 19, while Adam Miller added 13. Collins contributed 14 of his 19 points in the second half, including nine straight points for ASU. The Maroon and Gold shot 30-for-60 from the field - an efficient 50% for the game - while holding a red-hot Utah offense to going 13-of-33 (39.3%) shooting in the second half. It was Coach Hurley's 150th career win as the Head Coach at Arizona State.
In February, the Sun Devils completed the regular season sweep by knocking off Utah 85-77. The Utes finished the 2023-24 campaign 14-2 at home, with one of those two losses coming to Arizona State (other vs. No. 5 Arizona). Despite falling behind 16-7 early and trailing by two at the half, Jamiya Neal came through with 17 helping ASU outlast Utah. ASU has now won four of the past five in Salt Lake City. Adam Miller added 16 points while Frankie Collins notched 13 points and three steals. ASU's 85 points is still a season high.
SUN DEVILS IN VEGAS
Head Coach Bobby Hurley and Sun Devil Men's Basketball are no stranger to competing in Las Vegas, as the program has had plenty of success in the city during his tenure. Arizona State went 3-1 in Las Vegas a season ago, picking up victories over Creighton, Oregon State, and USC. The Sun Devils participated in the 2023 Vegas Showdown back in November, going 1-1 at Michelob ULTRA Arena (L vs. No. 20 BYU, W vs. Vanderbilt). In previous years, Coach Hurley has guided ASU to neutral site tournament championships at the 2017 Continental Tire Invitational and the 2018 MGM Resorts Main Event. Here is a look back at some of the program's biggest triumphs in the Entertainment Capital of the World.
2022 Jack Jones Hoopfest (Michelob ULTRA Arena)
ASU 73, Creighton 71 - Dec. 12
Facing adversity and resisting several significant momentum shifts in the second half, Arizona State overcame a 21-point swing and downed Creighton 73-71 in their last appearance at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
Desmond Cambridge Jr. was lethal, dropping his game-high 19 points in only 18 minutes. With ASU taking body blows in the form of a 16-0 Creighton run early in the second half, he drilled two threes in less than 30 seconds to silence the Bluejays faithful. The Sun Devils clamped down defensively - forcing Creighton to miss seven of its final nine shots in the final five minutes - resulting in the massive win.
2018 MGM Resorts Main Event (T-Mobile Arena)
ASU 87, Utah State 82 - Nov. 21
Luguentz Dort earned MVP honors of the MGM Resorts Heavyweight Bracket with a 33-point outing to lift Arizona State to an 87-82 win over Utah State. Dort's tally still is the third-best in program history for by a freshman, behind Mario Bennett (35 in 1992) and Jahii Carson (34 in 2013).
Arizona State moved to 5-0 on the season for only the third time in the past 33 seasons with the victory. This was part of an incredible stretch under Hurley in which the program won 19 straight non-conference games during the regular season.
ASU 72, #15 Mississippi State 67 - Nov. 20
For the second consecutive season, the Sun Devils captured a statement November victory in Las Vegas, NV with the 72-67 win over No. 15 Mississippi State. The Sun Devils broke the Bulldogs full-court press in the final seconds, leading to a slam by Kimani Lawrence that capped off ASU's 4-0 start.
Lawrence drilled a game-winning three from the corner, giving Arizona State a three-point advantage with just 29 seconds to play. Lawrence tallied a career-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting Monday and snagged five rebounds. With Sun Devil Men's Golf legend Phil Mickelson in attedance, the Maroon & Gold advance to the championship game of the event.
2017 Continental Tire Invitational (Orleans Arena)
ASU 102, #15 Xavier 86 - Nov. 24
Arizona State, elevated by a career-high 40-point performance from Invitational MVP Tra Holder, defeated No. 15 Xavier 102-86 to capture the Continental Tire Invitational Championship. The victory was the program's first win over an opponent ranked in the Top-15 since knocking off then No. 6 Arizona, 81-78, on Feb. 7, 2015. It also marked Arizona State's largest margin of victory (16) over a ranked opponent in the Bobby Hurley era. ASU improved to 6-0, eclipsing the 90+ point-mark in all six games. Collectively Arizona State capped the outing shooting at impressive clips of 56 percent (33-of-59) from the field, 48 percent (13-27) from beyond the arc and 92 percent from the charity stripe (23-of-25).
ASU 92, Kansas State 90 - Nov. 23
Kodi Justice scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half to lead Arizona State to a 92-90 victory over Kansas State on Thanksgiving in the Continental Tire Invitational. ASU reached 90 points for the fifth straight game for the first time since February of 1960, moving to 5-0 for only the second time in 32 years. Justice hit from all over in making 9-of-10 field goal and 6-of-8 free throws. He was perfect in four three-pointers and added three assists and just one turnover in 37 minutes.
THE HURLEY ERA
Bobby Hurley secured his 150th victory as the head coach of Sun Devil Men's Basketball over Utah on Jan. 4. The win makes him just the third coach in program history to win 150 games at ASU.

RECORD SETTER
Frankie Collins made history in the matchup with Washington in February. He finished the game with three steals, making him the single-season record holder at Arizona State for steals in a season. Collins broke Lafayette Lever's 42-year-old previous record of 76 steals set in 1982. He continues to add to his record, currently sitting at 83 total steals. He is 8 steals away from cracking the Top-10 in the Pac-12 Conference's single-season record book.
MOST SUN DEVIL STEALS IN A SEASON

76 – Lafayette Lever, 1982
74 – Eddie House, 2000
74 – Lafayette Lever, 1981
73 – James Harden, 2008
73 – Marcell Capers, 1993
I'LL TAKE THAT
Through 31 games of the 2023-24 season, Frankie Collins has emerged as one of the best perimeter defenders in the nation. Collins has 83 steals, putting him sixth in the country in the category. He is currently sixth in the nation in steals per game, averaging 2.7 per contest. He matched a program-record with eight steals in the victory over UMass Lowell and has 16 3+-steal performance already this season. His 83 steals are 18 MORE than any other player in the Pac-12 (Kobe Johnson, USC - 65) and he has four games with 6+ steals.
FRANKIE DOES IT ALL
Guard Frankie Collins has emerged as one of the top all-around players in the Pac-12 Conference. He is currently one of only two players in the nation (Shahada Wells, McNeese State) averaging at least 13.6 points (1st on team), 4.5 rebounds (2nd on team), 3.3 assists (1st on team), and 2.7 steals (1st on team). Collins is stuffing the stat sheet in a historic manner while playing only 32.3 minutes per game (18th in the conference). Collins has been extremely consistent, reaching double figures scoring in 28 of the 31 games this season.
ACE UP OUR SLEEVE
Since gaining eligibility midway through the season due to his status as a two-time transfer, redshirt junior guard Adam Miller has continued to emerge for the Sun Devils. He has scored at least 12 points in each of his last nine games, averaging 15.0 points during that span. He is shooting an efficient 47-for-91 (51.6%) from the field and 17-for-44 (38.6%) from three. He is also 24-for-30 (80%) from the free throw line.
WINNING THE TURNOVER BATTLE
Arizona State has done an excellent job of taking care of the basketball during the 2023-24 season. The Sun Devils have won the turnover battle in 25 of their 31 games. The Maroon & Gold are the best team in the Pac-12 and rank 25th in the nation when it comes to turnover margin, sitting at +3.1 on the year. ASU forces the most turnovers/game (13.6) while committing the fewest (10.5) of any team in the Pac-12.
ZO SAYS NO
Sun Devil forward Alonzo Gaffney is one of the most versatile defenders in the Pac-12 and is a key to the Arizona State defense. He is one of only two players in the conference (Adem Bona, UCLA) with at least 38 blocks and 32 steals this season. Gaffney has 11 games in which he has registered one block and one steal. He ranks 5th in the league in blocks and is T-22nd in steals.
ASU RECORD BY STARTING LINEUP
Due injuries to Shawn Phillips Jr., Zane Meeks, and Brycen Long early in the season, the Sun Devils have been shorthanded the entirety of the year. With Adam Miller gaining eligibility midway through the campaign, fluctuation continues with Arizona State's roster. This has resulted in Coach Hurley using 11 different starting lineup combinations in 31 games. Frankie Collins is the only Sun Devil to have started every game, with nine different players earning a start so far this year. ASU has at least one win with seven different lineup combinations. The Maroon & Gold started a different lineup against UCLA for the ninth straight game.

HERE TO STAY
The Arizona State Board of Regents announced in March of 2023 that Sun Devil Men's Basketball Head Coach Bobby Hurley has agreed to an extension that will keep him with the program through the 2026 season.
NCAAS UNDER COACH HURLEY
ASU has made the NCAA Tournament three times in the past five chances (2023, 2019, and 2018) and won two games. In the previous 32 seasons (1986-2017), ASU made two NCAA Tournaments and was 2-3. Should the Sun Devils win the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament, it would be the second time under Hurley they have made back-to-back NCAA Tournaments (2018-19).
The entire 2024 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament will be televised, with games carried on FOX, FS1, and Pac-12 Network in addition to online streaming platforms.
PHOENIX HOSTING THE 2024 MEN'S FINAL FOUR
The 2024 Men's Final Four will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., with the national semifinals on Saturday, April 6 and the National Championship game on Monday, April 8, 2024. This is the second time the state of Arizona has hosted the Final Four, also doing so back in 2017. Arizona State will once again serve as the host institution as they did for the 2017 edition.
